I’d like for the US to bring more pitching, but that wasn’t what beat them tonight. Japan just pitched really well. US spread 10 hits.
It’s saying the same thing, but the bats were really disappointing. I don’t think the pitching was THAT good. Our batters just folded.
Starting Mullins seems very bad in hindsight. Don’t know why he felt the need to tinker with the lineup.
Your main point that this result can’t be blamed on pitching is true. 3 runs should not be too many.

It will make things more exciting no doubt. It feels a little like one of those unintended consequences kind of thing though.

These announcers(and baseball) need to stop talking about it and be about it
Baseball lacks a spark and yet they’re sitting here telling us how baseball is exploding and amazing
Now let’s all watch them continue not trying and being boring af

I don’t think the pitching was THAT good.

It’s going to change strategy drastically I think. More small ball and less dingers. I’m not sure that’s good for the game.

We need a Japanese broadcast team for LSU if they win the CWS

Two questions:
1) You think the home run or bust approach was good for the game?
2) You really think teams are going to have more of a small ball approach and not a more balanced approach?

Hot take:
Small ball > Gorilla ball for entertainment purely on the fact that more balls are put in play.
Waiting an hour and a half between each homer and watching 13 strikeouts before it happens is boring as hell.

I need a USA WBC champs shirt before they get shipped to Tanzania

Ah, I gotcha.
I think more action might be ok for the game. More situations to account for seems like it should be exciting.
I don’t think I like what’s good for the game if young people are the judges of that.

It would be nice if USA brought some starting pitching to this thing.
Agreed. The offense was stacked, but the pitching staff was weak. Merrill Kelly and Wainwright were the two best SPs?
Guys who stayed home:
Corbin Burnes
Gerritt Cole
Max Fried
Shane McClanahan
Shane Bieber
Aaron Nola
Alek Manoah
Dylan Cease
Brandon Woodruff
Kevin Gaussman
Zack Wheeler
Logan Webb
Triston McKenzie
Logan Gilbert
Robbie Ray
Spencer Strider
That's not even counting guys that we knew wouldn't participate like Verlander, Scherzer, DeGrom.

I want to why Japan player was holding up Ichiro's jersey? On the stage

I didn’t say that, but trading them for bunts isn’t a good idea either.

Absolutely they will. Especially small market teams. Why wouldn’t they when MLB has just given them an opportunity to compete in a different way?

or guys who are hurt like buehler
is what it is. we will always have difficulty attracting pitching to the competition

Was Ichiro the star when Japan won their first 2 WBC's? I'm assuming so, I guess.
