re: 2023 U.S. Open thread...Djokovic to face Medvedev in Finals

They are playing a cool techno/disco version of that 30 Seconds to Mars song on some of the outros.

I'm enjoying this match so far.

To go off on a tangent….

It is obvious that ESPN is pushing hard for James Blake to be the “new face” that they want to put front and center as their acceptable to the progressives guy, but…..

The new commentator guy I thought was really good was Chris Eubanks, in fact when I first heard him on TV I thought he was some career TV guy they were giving a shot,…was shocked when I figured out he was the Ga Tech player that is having some great results on tour this year.

What do you all think?

James Blake is an awesome guy. He sucks as a commentator though. It’s so flat

Yeah Eubanks is really a natural as a commentator — has a good voice and demeanor for it and is very good as a conversationalist in a broadcast setting. Blake is fine but a little boring.

Zverev had two break points at 3 all in the first set — could not cash in. Of course, Alcaraz breaks the next game and then takes the set. Tough pill to swallow there as Alcaraz really was not at his best that first set and Zverev still lost. Now it is a real uphill battle for him, especially after playing a 4 hr 40 min match last round.

Alcaraz is not a human being.

He’s fricking incredible to watch. Going to win a lot of majors in his career.

Been loving Alcaraz since last year. He’s going to do something special. I’m a huge rafa fan and I know the end of his career is fast approaching so it’ll be fun to have another player to root for. Who knows, Alcaraz might end up being better than the big 3.

Let's statt individual threads for the two men's semifinal matches...I think they deserve their own threads...same with the finals.

I saw something on Talk Tennis that Shelton may have gotten hurt from mixed doubles. I have been wondering why there is no announcement about which match is first.
