What a fricking clownshow.

We are not far away from Nascar putting an electronic remote control fuel reduction lever on cars. Thencthey will sit in booth and reduce fuel to leader until the others catch up.

And this splitter idea is dumb. So of the next car isn’t in range of leading car then they too have a car that can’t catch up.

I say put bigger engines and smaller width tires on and that will create racing. Bigger engines means no one can go full throttle so you have to manage that aspect and can pass cars, or catch cars.

Exactly. Make them harder to drive. 670hp on massive tires is moronic. Not long ago they were pushing 900HP.

That would make the pack racing go away however and the braintrust thinks that is what they need to draw fans.

I mean they completely rebuilt Atlanta to make it into another pack track.

Atlanta was better than I expected but still hard to move to front. What makes it work is likely pure accidental - due to higher banking and shorter track (compared to Daytona/Dega) they have to let off and due to narrow track as well its hard to run too close like the others.

A few drivers could move up but once spotters saw the real high line it was blocked. One driver had to try and push the car ahead yet defend the high line everyone was stuck. And trying a bottom pass was failure 9 out of 10 times. The rain threat made this race. Had no rain been forecast then we woulda seen a parade of cars until end of each stage and race. Just like Chicago was aided by rain so was Atlanta in a race to beat the rain. Next year if both are dry with no rain threat then they will be much tamer and more boring.

I was watching cars pass when they got out of the draft. They couldn't stay long but it made for a great competitive race. I'm sure knowing that rain was coming made for some aggressive moves, but that track allowed the cars to move all over the place.

This is the correct take.

I can hear the radio comms now:

Driver: “My tranny broke”

Crew Chief: “Dylan or the car? Must not have used the right lube”

Thats fair. But with rain risk it made them take risks. Without rain coming they would have no risk to lose many spots and would all line up. And they still need helpers, can’t do it alone. Its pack racing by either team or car make. When one make or team gets lined up its hard to me headway. Due to risk of rain when someone pulled down then another did too. But if no rain risk I venture to say they all parade around until last laps of stages. Drivers were aggressive all race which isn’t common. But yes it was a good race

What makes SRX work is no fines and no suspensions. Payback is expected. Tony has it right.

30 years ago today, we lost Davey. I remember that day and the 9 year old me cried like I lost a family member. Growing up he was my favorite driver and I loved that #28 car. I’ll never forget seeing him and that car race around Darlington. One of his last cars he drove is in the museum at Darlington and it always brings back the great memories of watching him race.
