Race recap. Follow the leader until wreck and pray you are in right spot to avoid. Then back to follow the leader until wreck and hope you avoid wreck. Rinse, repeat.
They could honestly change to a 20 lap race for the win and likely get massive viewers. Just make it a 20 lap shootout so they can avoid the 90% of follow the leader. No reason to waste 3 hours to get to actual racing.
Bubba ran out of talent again, and although I don’t blame him for trying to block his car was loose all day so he should have known wrecking was goikg to happen with extra blocks. But why TF does Fox have a Bubba cam? He looked like a sore loser in those shots. He has anger issues.
Congrats to Kyle on being in right spot at right time. Plate racing is throw of the dice. After seeing the junior series wrecks on Sat its a miracle no one was killed.
When will nascar fix plate racing? Will it take another star to die?

Points after Dega. How many drivers will Chase pass with 6 less races than regulars? He’s already ahead of 2 and 4 poimts from passing 2 more. This race might be more exciting than actual races.

His brother Kurt was a great driver too. Hard to believe that he only won one championship and that was way back in 2004.
Yeah, he is one driver that I figured that would have at least 2 maybe 3 championships. Each team he was on he made them better. I remember he did an interview in the early-mid 2000’s when he was winning a lot and said something along the lines that if you think I am good, you haven’t seen my brother yet.

I would have no issue with them setting races up so that each team has to make 1-2 pit stops max. I sit there and play on my phone half-arse paying attention, then finally start actually watching with about 25 to go.

I would like to see them go to the no stage breaks like they did at COTA. It would cut time off the race and would introduce different strategies throughout the race like it did at COTA.

Or add passing points to plate tracks. Imagine cars going back to go forward. At least would add excitment to first 95% of race. Every car you pass is a point and would add to your total at end of race. Sure woukd change strategy.

It's typically easy to hate on FOX's coverage of Wallace, but the Bubba cam yesterday wasn't THAT egregious.
He was running near the front most of the day, and wrecked out leading the final lap. I would expect a broadcast to show the reaction of any driver in that situation.
Also, Bubba's reaction was relatively subdued by his standards. He even took blame for the finish. He simply looked frustrated/disappointed, as he should have.

I remember that.
He was 100% right.

Jeff Burton added to the 75 greatest drivers list.

When will nascar fix plate racing?
They've tried for over 30 years to fix the cars that work at every other track except Dega and Dayton. And ot never works. Catch a clue Nascar, it ain't the cars that need fixing. It's the tracks. As much as folks love them, it's time to take some banking out of those two tracks.

Terrible take.

Maybe, but it's the correct take. I watched my favorite driver die live on TV because Nascar was trying monkey with the cars to put on a better show. In 22 years since they still haven't figured it out. Because they are looking for a solution that doesn't exist.
You can't fix the cars to make the work at those track without restrictor plates. The plates (or more accurately tapered spacers) create more problems with the racing than they solve. I'm tired of watching half the field or more wreck at 4 races a year.
But since Nascar owns those two tracks and it would cost Nascar significant money to reconfigure them, were stuck with them. And the owners are stuck fixing the cars after each one of these races. But you can't fix injuries. We've been lucky we haven't seen another fatal injury since Earnhardt died. I thought we were with Newman injury. It was really scary. And we dodged another bullet with the Larson crash yesterday. Honestly I'm fed up and it's time to take 10 degrees of banking out of each track before we lose another driver.
Folks might hate the opinion and I understand that, but it's the only way to make those races competitive AND safe.

Move the stands back and take the plates off.

This is the correct answer.

So add two more Michigan-style tracks?
The banking would be slightly more, but not much. Taking 10 degrees out of Daytona would give you 21 in the turns and 8 in the tri-oval. Dega would drop to 23/6.
Michigan is 18/12.

They need to analyze the shite out of that roll cage

You can fix the cars but Nascar won’t. They love the wrecks as that gets them exposure on social media and TV cuts.
You will never get rid of wrecks at any track. But they could reduce the tire size requiring cars to slow down in corners like other tracks. Could reduce engine size but take plates off so drivers have throttle response.
The solution is 100% with the car.

@FoxTV got a 2.58 rating and 4.554 million viewers for Sunday's @Geico 500 @Talladega, almost flat from the reported 2.61 rating/4.682M viewers last year.
NASCAR says there was a @Nielsen revision that changed '22 viewership to 4.336M; by that number, NASCAR was up Sunday.

I hadn't thought of it that way, but yes. And with the loss of California in the 2 mile configuration and Indy going to a road course, it kind of makes sense. With the exception of Harvick putting a hurting on everyone last year, the racing at Michigan has been pretty good lately...
