Going for 2 wouldn’t have made any sense there, and even so that still makes it 21-20

You're right, so it's a 1 Pt game and Rummel is kicking off...

So they would still need to score again regardless. Which they couldn’t do. They clearly don’t have a fg kicker so it wouldn’t have mattered if the were down 1 or 7

If the refs got both calls right Catholic wins 28-18 or 28-20. You pick

That call deflated Rummel, had that been called complete and a TD, at 21-21, no telling what the outcome would've been.

There was plenty of time left, Rummel still had the ball, and from that point on did absolutely nothing until their final offensive play.

I understand being deflated. But the bad / questionable calls didn't do anything to deflate Catholic.

Better teams overcome tough calls. Catholic did it when they were called for unnecessary roughness for tackling a guy before the whistle was blown. Catholic did it when Rummel was gifted a 2pt conversion when the receiver caught the ball two yards out of bounds.

Rummel was terrible in the 4th quarter. I have to think 4 straight weeks of travel and playing over their heads finally caught up to them.

Zachary received more favorable calls in the 2021 WM games than Catholic did in all 3 games combined.

This guy is insufferable. Two years later he is whining about calls in a quarter final game that “allowed” a team to advance on to the finals and beat his school’s “greatest team ever”. His logic is that ZHS was the only team that could beat them that year. Gives me Uncle Rico vibes!

Let’s be fair, he doesn’t want to talk about 2023

Blown lead. Great win for y'all though.

Honestly, the state title game came down to their D-line swallowing up everything, even spooking us into passing up on FGs after 2 straight kicks were blocked. If we truly were a deserving champion, we should've been able to beat any team in front of us. This isn't like CFB where the field is way smaller and money matters more than merit.

If the WR doesn't go down and matthews doesn't get "his bell rung" very different game.

Still doesn’t mean they were the second best team in the state that year.

Runner up trophy begs to differ.

To be fair, there are some years where the 2 best teams are on the same side of the bracket, 2006 Catholic/Acadiana and 2014 Acadiana/Ponchatoula being prime examples. I do believe the 2 best teams clashed in the dome in 2021 though.

In that division. There were 8 other divisions that competed that year. OPs claim was that Zachary was the only team in the state that could beat Pontchatoula that year. Simply not true.
