St. Michael plays McKinley for District and they must have still opted to play up in Playoffs. Not sure if they were grandfathered in for some reason.

Time for STM to move up. They have over 120 kids dressed out. You would think they want to prove they are tops for the larger teams.

Why is STM still playing Select Division II. Right now they are out classing everyone. They should be in Division I. Even McKinley is playing Division I Select.

Without them and LCA that division would suck

Did I hear correctly that LCA is moving back to Div III and STM is going to Div I next season? Someone who told me about SCC moving to Div II next year is where I got that info from. It may not be accurate.

HUH? WHo.. st mikes played in DII where a 4a select belongs, Mckinley's enrollment even though 4A put them in DI. you don't opt up for divisions but class.

That’s what I thought. Re the split and the evolution of it — if (1) we just go to 4 divisions and do away with classes which I think is possible and (2) Louisiana goes to a unfettered school choice model as John Kennedy would prefer I think all schools would considered select under the current definition. We would be back to no split with just 4 division ( aka classes)

Yep LCAs will be in 2A with a district of
Notre Dame, Lake Arthur, Welsh, Lafayette Renaissance and
Midland (Non Football) and they will play Division III in the playoffs

This will be trip #9 for the Acadiana Rams since 2005. (Trip #6 for me) Playing for a championship every other year isn’t too bad for a Lafayette public school

I don’t follow HS sports that much- how is Acadiana considered a select school?

Should have started these games at 5 pm. We’ve known for days this was going to be an issue.

Pay attention. They did move some games up.

It’s not as easy as you think to rearrange transportation, officials, staff, security as you might think it is.
this especially when officiating crews make their longest trips of the post season for semifinals. also the rain threat was indeed know all along - RAIN IS NOT THE ISSUE - the lightning threat increased over the 24 hours prior to the game and the schools, lhsaa and lhsoa did a tremendous job adjusting to in.

in 2009 semis were played in snow in most places and freezing rain in others - weather is part of the game snow, rain and sleet can't kill you like lightning can.

Most Lafayette Parish public schools are part of the district’s School of Choice program. It allows them to pull students outside of their attendance zones (but still within the parish). For example, Acadiana has the Business Academy.

But the joke is, you have to test into these academies, stay in core 4, and maintain a high GPA. Also, their is a waitlist for the academies, so it isn’t really an option for recruiting. Very few football players in Lafayette parish are in an Academy, especially Lafayette high’s health academy.

They should have put Kinder either in this same district, or in the district with East Beau, Rosepine, etc. We are paired with the Alexandria area (I'm one of the band directors at Kinder).

It’s pretty much the same in New Orleans.

I agree that teachers unions wouldn’t want it. But, and not to get too political on this board, it’s clear Louisiana is very Red right now. Super majorities in each chamber. John Kennedy pushing it. Jeff Landry in the governors mansion. Louisiana as a whole population seems open to it. I could see it happening in the next few years.

It will just end up being UHS, SCC, Calvary and LCA in semis every year.

And UHS and SCC will be able to compete with LCC, especially next year.

Yep the LHSAA made a big stink about making districts based on traveling which is fine but then you put Kinder in a district with Menard that’s 70 miles away makes no sense
