It turns out that TWO cars were disqualified from the race! I don't recall the last time any car was disqualified from a race while it was running.

Pedersen and Robb are just disastrous on the track. The field would be better if they shut them down for the year as they’re just a complete liability week in and week out.

Anyone got recording of the Scott Dixon vs Spotter (Robbie Fast?) chatter?

Before the weekend the gap from Palou to Dixon in P2 in the championship was 117 pts. After Newgarden dominated the weekend, he is now in P2 in the championship and has brought the gap down to 80 pts. Despite Newgarden's domination, Palou did a good job minimizing the damage with P8 and P3 finishes.
Palou and Newgarden have now each won four races this season. With four road/street races and just one oval race left, Palou is a great bet to hang on to the championship.

Palou did what he needed to do this weekend to hold on and win it. Unless he crashes out in a race or two I think he’s got it in the bag.

Newgarden has a chance.
Was hoping to see Herta have a better weekend.
The race weekend event itself looked awesome. I'd love to go.

Agreed. Hyvee does a fantastic job with the event. I hope some other race sponsors can learn from what they do.

Simon Pagenaud is still not cleared to race. It's been a month since his accident at Mid-Ohio. If his head is still messed up after this many weeks, maybe the team should just say he's out for the year.
Conor Daly and Tom Blomqvist have filled in for Pagenaud, and for this weekend's Nashville race, highly regarded current Indy Lights champion Linus Lundqvist will be driving in his IndyCar racing debut. He has tested IndyCars a few times in the past, most recently at Sebring in June.

Speaking of Nashville, starting next year the Nashville race will be the last race of the season, and the current season-ender at Laguna Seca will be moved to a March date.
IndyCar apparently wants to end the season with more of a "party atmosphere" than the "sleepy" Laguna Seca. Having the Long Beach race at the end of the year would have made the most sense. The problem with Nashville is that in the two races run so far, 43% of the race laps have been run under full course yellow. Its nickname is Crashville. The first year was a mess. The second year it felt more like a successful event. But I found out there were actually more yellow laps run in the second race.
And there's a new layout.

Oh, so they wanna take it right down the heart of Nashville’s commercial district, I see?
wouldn’t an end of season race conflict with college football? Best be careful not to mess with that.

I’ll be in Nashville this weekend. Excited for it!
Love the new layout for next year. IDK that it will change the reputation of the race much

That race next year down Broadway will be wack. I wonder how access to the businesses and bars along the route will be handled during the several days the course is set up for racing?
We were in Nashville last summer. Decided to skip the race, which was wise due to rain delays, but it was cool to go up on the pedestrian bridge the day before and watch practice and hear the engines scream through town.
It was amazing to see how many team or IndyCar uniformed people were streaming across the bridge. It is a huge traveling circus.

Can someone explain how this overshoot thing works?
The dude that just took the overshoot a few minutes ago looks like it was much quicker to do so, seems like he definitely gained spots.
Is it supposed to be an option but is slower or is it something each driver can use a certain amount of times in a race?

You should never gain positions. If you do, you need to give the positions back immediately. I missed some of the early race so I didn't see what you are referring to.

Finally a clean race!
I'm actually rooting for Grosjean to win.

quote:Gotcha. I think the camera switched to something else so it's possible he slowed down to give the position back.
