Didn't realize until the broadcast that in him taking Pole, he didn't have a single fastest sector.

F1’s current popularity (Formula Netflix) much like EPL, is derived from people watching so they can appear sophisticated and cosmopolitan. It’s self aggrandizing.
Serious racing fans know which series is the true “pinnacle of racing”. F1 is a fascinating engineering exercise and paddock circus. The on track product will always be secondary
I bet this guy is a ton of fun at parties.

I like Lando.
I thought that was a pretty boring race, all things considered, but I wasn't expecting much since y'all called it "Monaco with walls."
What do we think about Spa?

Spa is absolutely my favorite circuit in the world.

Same. I hope he breaks all of Max’s trophies.

I said after the GB race that I think Aston Martin was coming back down to earth and that is probably more like what they'll end up being the rest of the year. More of a 4-5 team with no real shot at 2. Seems like that might be the case.
McLaren looking nice definitely makes things more interesting but man this level of dominance by Red Bull is getting old. It wouldn't be so bad if you had someone at least remotely competing with Max.
To the F1 scholars: How many times has there been a team/driver where you knew going into the race that nobody in the field had a shot at winning unless that person wrecks? How long did that last? I ask because this looks like this season will only have two drivers win a race, and that's kind of hard to get excited about.

its only a matter of time before Goat Norris takes over the sport.

Seems like it's an all timer type of car with an all timer type of driver, but Checo is bottom half of this group of drivers.
Feels like it's either the car is arguably the best car ever, so Checo is just a complete bum. Or the car, while great, isn't THAT good but Max is the GOAT. Or probably...somewhere in the middle.

We have seen dominance before in F1, but this is different and its because you have Max and Newey.
You had a significant rule change focused solely on aero and RB had the foremost expert on motor sport aero to ever walk the face of the earth. The rule change was built for Newey. Couple that with having an all-time driver in Max who has been embedded with the team for years and you get this unstoppable combo.

I dont get as excited to watch the races as much this year because of that dominance.

Side note/question - How many of the other drivers on this grid could/would be 2nd in the standings in Checo's spot? Is it all of them?

quote:Checo is tough to figure out. It seems that he goes through stretches where his focus/drive just isn't there. When he's on, like early this season, he is relatively competitive with Max and can push that RB to dominate the rest of the field. When he's off, he looks like a total bum, especially in qualifying.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but 2018 is considered Lewis' best year? 2019 was great as well.
In 2018 he had 11 wins and 10 poles. Completely dominated.
Max this year has 9 wins and 7 poles through 11 races. He is close to matching Lewis best season and it's only halfway through the season. It honestly is not outlandish to think that Max could get 20 wins this year.
There's a difference.

His qualifying has just been dog shite, he's been carving through the field just fine. If he'd just start in the top 5, he'd p2 every race
