That car was a rocket ship. It almost lapped the entire field at Richmond at one point before a caution came out.

Yep, I believe maybe 6 people finished on the lead lap?

Seeing photos of different generations of cars together always reminds me of how much I hate headlight decals. I know their for brand recognition and what not, but it's a pet peeve of mine.

Looks like 8 finished on the lead lap which is appropriate because the 8 kicked their asses that night

Junior’s tribute to his dad at the 2006 Dega race

I had the full diecast set of those cars. The big diecast of Jr's Cup car and then the smaller diecasts of the other DEI cars and Jr's Busch car.

I love seeing some of those older pics, especially the old RYR 28 with the Reed Cams decals on them. We knew the Reed family and it is always cool to see those decals pop up.

There is video of Allen, Benny, & Risty Wallace talking about the huge lead Junior had at that Richmond race and how he was probably gonna lap the entire field…which of course brought out a caution that eliminated the lead

I don’t understand why they painted the stripe on Jr’s tribute car red instead of the traditional orange.

Junior was an underrated short track driver.

Yeah, he had a 4 or 5 year stretch where he lead all drivers in average finish on short tracks. Very good short track racer

You know, I guess I didn't realize it during the race but Joey Logano lost multiple laps when he spun during a crash, suffering no actual damage, because his tires went flat and it took him several minutes to get back to his pit stall due to his car getting stuck. I know we don't like Logano, but that is a massive flaw with these wheels/tires on the new car. Imagine how many laps down a guy could go at a track that isn't 2.5 miles long.

I agree. Something like that happens at 1.5 mile or lower track, that driver’s day is pretty much over. I like the concept of the one lug but tires/wheels have flaws NASCAR will have to fix.

When are they turning Auto Club into a smaller track?

That was a shitty year at Dega, taken out by Vickers and I think the black car blew an engine

Yeah they were both good cars. That fall Dega race was probably the most devastated I’ve been after a race(I was a massive JR fan, still am). Vickers turned Johnson who turned JR and Vickers made it through unscathed.

Kinda of a weird schedule this weekend at Auto Club. Cup has practice at 2:00 EST tomorrow , followed by qualifying at 2:35 EST. I know it is pretty much a coast to coast swing but I figured they would have more practice time.

2023 is when it is supposed to happen. Should have happened already but the Covid stuff put it on pause.
