The original system should’ve never left. But everyone lost their shite when Ryan Newman literally went first or last in 2003 and Kenseth drove smart to a title despite winning once.

Gordon would of won 2 more titles and maybe a third under the old system.
Junior would of won one in 2004 had the old system been in place. Also Harvick would have another one.

Kasey Kahne would have won one in 2006. He won 6 races that year.

Alal Kulwicki won the title with a single win.
So did Benny Parsons, I believe.

Came back to check this hours later and it was a nice bonus to see how much I'm in your head still. I hope you earned some good tips.

Brian France had many stupid ideas, but that will always be the worst.

Plus 1 million … but the biggest reason had to do with his insane belief that “NASCAR is in competition with the NFL in the fall and needed to do something to make a splash and get on the front page.”
There’s no more competition between NASCAR and the NFL than there would be between a rowboat and an aircraft carrier.
Brian’s daddy and granddaddy understood auto racing is a niche sport and that from September on it was going to be on Page 6 of the sports sections except in the tracks’ respective local markets, and were satisfied with what they got and went to the house.

France probably lost his shite in the last race in 2003 in Homestead because Kenseth finished last blowing his engine early in the race.

LOL Brad only finished 8 points behind Harrison even though he had an entire race dq'ed?!

My thoughts on a points system.
Bring back season long points.
Bring back bonus points for leading.
Bring back bonus points for most laps led.
Give a bonus point for pole position.
Award stage points at half the race. (1-10)
Make getting a top ten worth racing hard.
Make 10th worth 3 more than 11th. And consistently go up. Make a win worth 15 points more than second.
Boom. Problem solved.

Or just go with something like F1's system where only the top 10 earn points.

He actually had more than an entire race DQ’d. He had a DQ, I believe, and then was docked another 100 pts. Max points you can receive in one race is 60 I think. 10 for 2 stage wins and 40 for the race win. Is there still points awarded for 1 lap led and most laps led?

Damn that's sad - they let Matty D go and that 21 has cratered. I get that was likely Penske's call but still.

Jeremy Clements xfinity win on Friday stands but he loses all the points, money etc. he got from the win and his crew chief was fined $60,000 because nascar found a problem with the engine.

Yep, and the win does not count toward making the playoffs.

How does NASCAR square this after it yanked Denny's win from his over a piece of tape?

Difference is:
If found during post race inspection win can be taken away.
If found after post race inspection win stays but points and money penalty (and win does not count towards playoffs same as Kes)
Hamlin and Bush penalties were found “during” post race inspection.
Appears it was a manifold issue. Not sure when they found it but after post race inspection.
