And the new rule is that it is on Max not to make the contact. He had the runoff area.
Lewis had the entire track to his left. Max was up against the curbs when Lewis turned in. The next lap an aston martin was in the same spot and left room on the inside. He lost the position of course but that's what you do when someone is inside and has the corner. Or you can drive over their nose and hope the FIA takes your side which ham did and they did.

If I'm Bottas then I'm letting Perez get to Russell with ease.

The rule was basically rewritten last year and agreed upon by the drivers this year before the season.

Not on Lewis to avoid the contact nor to leave space there.

I know that makes people upset, but there are multiple cases through last year and this where drivers have forced the inside/ouside car off because they don't have to leave the racing line to give room.

That was my thought, too, but Bottas probably doesn't know the bigger picture, at least at that moment.

Sam Collins is trying to say the missing wheel cover on Ham's car will slow down his pit stop as they will have to replace it.

This guy is the tech expert.

He has to know who is leading the race.

This entire race has been a synchronized effort by LH and GR to get GR (and Merc) the GP win...

From the race start, to the restart, to the incident (which was Max's fault btw ), Merc planned this weekend perfectly.

Happy to see another team get the win.

Oh, and to RIC for that pathetic shunt.

GO HAAS

I see the Hamilton hate is still alive and well on the board. If Mercedes figure their car out for next year, can't wait for all the tears to return.

Fighting Tigers is doing his best to explain the rule and the penalty and you guys still insist on applying some Laguna Seca track day rules to try to defend Max.

if the car is sufficiently alongside there is absolutely a requirement to leave room. That is directly from the FIA rules. Sufficiently alongside is for each to decide i suppose.

Have to be wheel to wheel. That was agreed upon by the drivers at the beginning of the year.

Go back and see Max/Mick in Silverstone. Why there was no penalty for pushing Mick wide.

I think most people here know the rule. And, the announcers on F1TV and apparently Brundle on Sky are saying it should not have been a penalty.

Congrats on having Crofty on your side.

*I've said all year it's a stupid rule.

The driver in front dictates the racing line

The reason they changed the rule is because that's how Max booted people from the racing line every time.

Max got a taste of his own medicine today.

And you already Snow, I am by no means a LH fan...

It is clear most don't. Hell, some wanted Hamilton to get a penalty.

I don't think it should have been either. They penalized based on result not the event.
