It's genuinely baffling to me that this is that contentious. It's common fricking sense.

Far from the first or only time something like has been done either.

Ocon was pulling Zo earlier this year iirc.

They were too slow to tell Mag to back off a bit to let Mick back in range. Could have had 3 points instead of 2.

eta-Mick fell out of range because he backed into Ham at an apex when he had a good angle/run to slow him down. Good defense but hurt him on the DRS.

Saying that, only 5 points behind AT so could move up another spot in the manufacturer standings if things go well tomorrow.

I'd imagine when F1 stops testing they will stop wearing them.

You could lose a championship or finishing position over the sniffles.

I remember watching the Amazon series that documented that season for McLaren (pre dates DTS). What a train wreck.

Haas told Mag that Ham had DRS and was stalking Mick. Mag knew what was up.

I think he knew what to do and let Mick get caught at the end just to look a bit better.

Yeah it's just not a good look. Definitely siding with Mick here. That should have been 3 points.

lolzzz No.

Mag was perfectly safe with MiniSchu in his DRS as Ham wasn't getting by. As stated, the only reason Mick lost the DRS was a defensive move he put on Ham. Lou almost got into the back of him.

They told Mag about a lap or two after Perez passed Mag and he lost DRS. Turn 1 believe.

SchuJu was politicking hard to pass Mag.

Steiner said Mick was not faster than Mag without the DRS per their data.

I looked at the data on F1Tempo.

Steiner was right.

Mag was easily quicker outside of the DRS zones.

quote:

While Schumacher believes he should have been allowed to go ahead of Magnussen, Steiner says the impression that the second car was quicker is simply down to Austria’s three DRS zones, meaning the team didn’t consider a switch of position.

“No, because it wouldn’t have worked, because he wasn’t faster,” Steiner said. “Obviously you are faster because you are in DRS. We spoke about this before the race — I explained to them: If you come out after the start behind each other, the second one thinks he is faster because you are 0.9s of a second faster because of the DRS effect, but that doesn’t make you faster because as soon as you go in front the other one is 0.9s faster, then as soon as you let someone by with Lewis so close he would sneak by as well and then get us after.

“We monitored very well if he was faster or not. We’ve got a guy in the corners just doing that as a full time job, so we monitored everything and we did the complete right thing because otherwise we would have gone out of the points with both cars or maximum maybe only achieved one point.

“It’s unfortunate he couldn’t keep Lewis off any longer but fighting with Lewis Hamilton is pretty good and he did a very good job of holding him off so Kevin could go and bring the points home.”

Reading stories about the Dutch fans at the Red Bull Ring this weekend. They are apparently a rowdy bunch.

Also, seems like writing is on the wall for Danny Ric. This was retweeted by Will Buxton

not really sure why you're going back to my post and responding again. We can agree to disagree and move on. That's kinda what I did

They announced the Herta thing before the season started.

Agh must have missed that.

Back to the Grand Prix, looks like this is a one stop race. Real question is do you start on mediums and go to hards, or start on hards and push them before going to mediums to close race.

Hasn’t it been planned for a while to get him enough test time so he qualifies for a super license?

The start is too important to go on hards first.
