So who do you think has the advantage going into the first race at Bahrain? Is it safe to assume that Mercedes is out of contention given their testing performance? Is 1) Ferrari/Red Bull, 2) McLaren, 3) Mercedes the most logical pecking order at this point?

McLaren has too many issues at this point to consider them near the top. A slow Merc is still a fast F1 car likely.
My WAG is RBR out qualifies Ferrari but the F175 has better race pace and if the cars are indeed easier to follow Ferrari might have a shot. I think Mercedes will be a clear 3rd but the dropoff to 4th will be significant and might not be McLaren in that spot.
ETA Qualy within close teams/drivers will likely be determined by who manages the wind the best, which may come down to dumb luck.

My kids came sprinting down thinking FP1 started at 6. The look of disappointment was brutal. I haven’t seen them this excited for a sporting event ever, and it’s just free practice.
