The problem with Carlos' car is Carlos.

He’s more of a Luth Operator this year.

ETA: a Luth is a type of turtle

Hoping replay shows Ham causing the collision with Mag, would be great karma.

How disappointed are you that not only did the replay show Lewis minding his own business, but KMag turning into him and ruining both their races? Good recovery from Lewis tho to finish 5th.

If Lewis somehow ends up winning a 8th WDC it will be great to see all melts from the folks posting on Page 229 that hate him.

That ship has thankfully sailed this year.

Ham fans.... "Mag turned into him!"

comical

Ham came in off the preferred line playing defense, which gave him a poor angle at the apex. This caused his car to push out. Watch from Mick's in car as he was right behind it. It's obvious what happened. (Pretty much the same as Silverstone which Ham fans claim he had no fault in while the FIA disagreed)

Saying that, I'm sure Mag has been ripped up one side and down the other by Steiner by now as his job is to collect points. Not banging wheels in the fourth turn on the first lap.

Max and Russell battled side by side through the same section. The difference is Max left enough space to react if/when Russell pushed out. Which he did, but they never touched.

KMag needs to save the hero moves for later. The millions of dollars difference between 5th and 9th in the WCC is substantial and directly effects the team's funding for next year. Just yesterday Gene specifically said their job is to get points. I'm guessing he was livid at this incident.

Rule 4.2.1a of the sporting code. If Hamilton is involved in a collision it is automatically his fault.

Random, but I’ve got a friend who will be at Monaco next week, and is offering to grab me a souvenir i.e. shirt, hat, whatever.

F1.com is 1/3 the price. Oh, you said Monaco? 1/10 the price.

I'm pretty far from a Hamilton fan, but I'm finding it hard to assign him blame in that one. I've watched all the camera angles and just don't see it. Kmag braked just a hair later and took an ever so slightly sharper angle into the apex while Hamilton was coming back out a little from his apex. I'm kind of scratching my head why Kmag thought he had to hug Hamilton that closely? He had all the room in the world to the left.

As someone who doesn’t watch much F1 can someone explain to me why every race the same few drivers are always the top 3 unless they wreck? Why is the playing field so unlevel between all the cars?

The right call was racing incident. Not sure if KMag doesn't hit HAM anyway, but the understeer was there.

It was a bold move by KMag around the outside on what was called a dusty track, but a first lap bold move can pay dividends later. Or screw you.

Money.

Good drivers are attracted to top teams. Top teams are top teams because they have resources larger than other teams.

Just voted Russell for DOTD. What a performance.

Him or Ham. After that atrocious start, coming from the back of the pack to finish where he did was a good piece of driving. And what George did...holding the RB team at bay for a while...could have given it to either one of them.

I really don't like Max. Too bad LeClerc's car shite the bed.

Welcome to F1.

Maybe the cost cap will allow for more competition in the future. It's really hard to know the impact right now due to the new formula. Within a year or so most of the cars will be using the same concepts and the field could be pretty close, assuming the cost cap works as intended.

F1 is generally dominated by one or two teams. Since the late 90's, the team at the top tends to stay there for years, usually until a new formula is introduced. Prior to the 90's there was more balance. A team might dominate for a year or two but the others would fight back. One or two really clever mechanics/engineers back then could make a huge difference. Now, as fightin tigers said, money has become even more of a factor. (It was always a factor but seems like a bigger deal now) There are really only 4 teams with the budgets to compete, Mercedes, Ferrari, Red Bull and McLaren. Like I said though, maybe the cost cap can bring some others into the conversation.

It's just a different sport. Maybe not for everyone. Based on the S3 times at Barcelona you can pretty much figure out who'll be up front next week in Monaco. We could probably get most of the podiums right for the rest of the season already.

RIP to the coolest guy in motorsports. 5 years ago today.

He wanted to quit early and his team coaxed him to keep driving

F1 doesn’t manipulate the results like NASCAR.
