I remember hearing that verstappen didn't do much for dts. Wonder of that's why? It was only the biggest story.

He declined to speak on camera. Wasn’t pleased with how they portrayed him by taking select quotes.

Didn't like how he was portrayed, and money.

Same reason why Hamilton hasn't done it in the past. They demand money for their time and Netflix has no reason really to pay them. They have all their interviews and all the b-roll they need.

Think Kimi said one or two things over the last couple seasons. No desire to be in it.

He’s an entitled a-hole, and was portrayed as such.

He also stated that he didn’t think DTS was accurate in general.

I’ll definitely still watch it. But I think a lot of people watched the season and followed the stories much closer this year than usual (at least I did) so people will notice when the fake drama and use radio from the wrong races. Wtf1 was saying F1 most likely announced the change to DTS format after they watched this seasons rough cuts.

I don’t know how Netflix does a bad job with the material they had to work with.

I can believe it. But that’s crazy.

How did they screw it up?

My guess is they used the same formula from season 1-3 and created fake drama like the lando Carlos rivalry which a lot of people called them out on last season. One major problem with that formula this season is the real drama was bigger than anything they could manufacture. So people are seeing straight through it. Also they are saying a lot of the interviews seem too scripted now, like everything the drivers are saying are being written up by their PR team, which is unfortunate

Best thing they could do is just follow Daniel Riccardo around.

He seems like he keeps it real all the time no matter what.

Yep, what made DTS so great was the off the cuff behind the scenes stuff you got to see that you'd probably didn't get access to before DTS. If it's nothing more than just an extension of the F1 press days then that's a bummer.

I'm interested to see what they can do with the championship battle. Max doesn't want to participant, Lewis is a knob, Horner and Toto both come off as unlikeable.

What also might hurt DTS is Formula1 as a whole has gotten much better with their social media stuff. They upload content constantly, even make their own behind the scene stuff. The teams are even getting in on it now as well. This probably hurts DTS because we've been provided a glimpse into each driver before ever seeing DTS.

Paraphrasing, but someone posted that the first episode starts with Lewis on the podium in Abu Dhabi collecting this championship. Announcers saying "is there anything that can stop him"

Next cut is Horner below the podium saying "I wish he would just shut the frick up"

I binged all three seasons of DTS before I had watched any F1 so it was all very fascinating (it took me like three episodes to realize the race commentary was tailored to the episode itself and not from the actual races )

It segued perfectly into the '21 season being so exhilarating. I feel like I already lived through the excitement. I don't think I'll be let down, per se, but because I'm so much more tapped into the ecosystem all the reveals will be less shock and awe. Although hearing RBR/Merc's individual reactions to the shenanigans in Jeddah & Abu Dhabi will be worth an otherwise subpar season 4 (if it's true)

Still probably a great way to kill 5 hours leading up to Bahrain.

That’s unfortunate, but that makes sense to me

Hopefully someone else will do a good documentary on last season.

All I care about for this season is that they were embedded with McLaren in Monza. I might just watch that episode ten times and call it a season.

I have convinced a few friends to watch DTS and it has gotten them interested in F1. There is definitely manufactured drama in the series, and I wonder if sport has outgrown the need for DTS, as it has done its job and gotten a good amount of people hooked. I am all for more F1 content, but DTS loses a lot of its luster when you watched the actual season and know some of the storylines are just not true, but some of the behind the scenes insights are great.

I agree with whomever said that it seems a little more polished now, as opposed to seasons 1-2.

The FIA has made not backing the invasion, either directly or indirectly, a requirement to race.

Drivers will also have to sign a declaration adhering to the FIA's principles of peace and neutrality.

quote:

The others include:

• Having to compete in an individual or neutral capacity

• Not displaying any Russian or Belarusian national symbols, colours or flags

• An acknowledgement of "the strong commitment made by the FIA to stand in solidarity with the people of Ukraine, the Federation Automobile d'Ukraine, and all of those suffering as a result of the ongoing conflict"

Pretty much means any Russian driver has to choose between their life if they ever return to Russia and their career.

Signing means they will never race nor allowed back into Russia.

There's no possible way he, or any driver, signs that, talk about a rock and a hard place. That first and second requirement isn't that big of a deal, the third one is pretty much asking them to denounce their home country and would likely be exiled.
