Read what I posted above about drag racing. I'm not typing it out again other than the crew chiefs tune the launch reaction of the cars to the driver. Car reacts quicker for a driver with a slower reaction time.

You think it's a gotcha, but it isn't.

For anyone interested, the Monaco Historic GP is taking place. Not sure where to really watch full coverage.

So. I’m meeting a lot of Dutch in Spain on holiday. Goddamn they’re pretty good people. Now I’m conflicted.

Livestream link for Qualifying

Livestream for races

Concerning Tyrrell's, I'd love to see the P34 run in person. A while back Avon made the front tires for it/them which had been an issue for running one in years past.

Is it physically insurmountable for a woman? No.

its physically more demanding than any other motorsports though. When Tony Stewart swapped cars with Lewis Hamilton he couldn't believe how difficult the test was on his neck both in braking and cornering. I don't think hand eye coordination is the main impediment but neck strength definitely is. Can a woman compete in F1? Given the right one sure they can't be worse than latifi. But people underestimate the g-loads over 70-80 laps on the drivers bodies. Stewarts neck was toast after just a few test laps. I can't remember Jeff gordons reaction to driving JPMS BMW but Magnusson has been in just about everything the past couple of years and he is struggling with the g-loads.

BTW comparing a full f1 race to a 3 sec blast in top fuel is apples to olives. But force's record is admirable in a sport where tire shake can literally kill you so I'm not going to shite on her accomplishments. Women in the motorcycle classes have been exceptionally competitive but stick them in Supercross and they would get destroyed due to lack of upper body strength

Chuck is driving one of Lauda's Ferrari's in the Monaco Historic races. Very surprised by that.

And he had an oops.

Almost surprised he knows how to drive a clutch.

You beat me by a minute. Chuck doesn't have much luck in his home town, you would think he would know the roads.

Sad to see the 312B backed into the barriers, at least it wasn't totaled.

Apparently it was a brake issue.

Better to lose them where he did versus coming out of the tunnel.

Very surprised he is driving a historic car. While they aren't really pushing the limits, wrecks are pretty common and the likelihood of injury is much higher in those 70's cars.

Look at the wheelbase on that thing. I'd spin too.

But crashing the Niki Lauda car is probably frowned upon by the home office.

The cars are so much smaller than the current tanks it's nuts.

They could actually race at Monaco compared to today's cars.

And even then there were complaints about the track being too tight.

Napkin math

The current cars are 2.6 times as wide as a 312B

The wheelbase of the new cars is 50% longer than the 312B

The new cars weigh ~250kg more but are significantly less dense, thanks carbon fiber.
