At this point I’m the opposite, I’d be more surprised if they don’t replace him.

The only way I can see him staying is if the money for this season has already been paid in full and if sanctions don’t interfere with travel visas.

Alfa C42 has stripped out of the camo, the entire grid has been revealed now.

Another one for Team Louvers, the grid is pretty much evenly split on their inclusion. I know Mercedes has run bodywork with and without, not sure about other team.

It will be interesting to see if the other teams will adopt them during testing and as the season progresses, particularly at hot weather races.

Now that we know what they all look like.

My vote for the best goes to Williams.

Worst goes to Alpine.

I kind of like alpine. Not a fan of Alfa. But we will see what the new HAAS looks like in a few weeks.

You'd think Ukraine would have bigger issues to worry about right now

Considering how much Russia loves to cheat in Olympic sports, I would say their international sporting participation/success is important to them. And I doubt the Federation Automobile D'Ukraine has any responsibility running the Ukrainian war effort. This is the one thing they can do as an organization to contribute to making Russia an international pariah.

FIFA just kicked Russia out of the World Cup qualifying rounds so I would expect FIA to follow suit this week.

Apparently, some cars are having weight issues:

Marko:

quote:

“The only problem we have is weight, but all teams have that,” Marko told Motorsport-Magazin.com.

“Thank God the minimum weight has already been raised, but there is still a lot of work to do before the first race.”

The Austrian is hoping that a meeting of the Formula 1 team bosses will see them agree an increase.

“Let’s see if there isn’t another increase,” he added.

That, however, is unlikely as in order for an increase to be written into the rules at this late stage, eight of the 10 teams would have say yes.

It is doubtful that only two teams have succeeded in getting their cars down to the minimum weight.

Marko, though, seems to think that actually only one has managed to do it.

“All but one of the teams are struggling with the weight problem,” he said.

how the hell is RB overweight when they only have 1/2 a sidepod?

This is great news! I hope they don't agree to an increase.

Small lightweight drivers will have a small advantage again (pun), as they should! See my post on the bottom of page 18.

I hope they keep it where it is at. Unfair that Alfa seems to have done it.

Also hope they reject the RBR request for suspension inerters. Screw giving teams the easy way out if some are not struggling.

This is my feeling. If there is a universal problem with the new tech regs when it should be considered. If it isn't universal then you just fail.

Especially since it was a known problem with ground effects that everyone seemed to forget about

Agreed.

As for the porpoising it is just extremely hard to simulate. Money is a big issue now I know but I think teams should have had more test time in the track with ground effects coming in. Porpoising was something Brawn had to know was not just a possibility but a likelihood and based on trackside reports every car is having some level of an issue with it.

I think the solution, though too late now, would have been to give a movable aero exception like DRS and have a legality box on the front of the floor where they can have bleeder holes that can be opened in the DRS zones. It could actually potentially be dual-stage and the second stage with more holes open could theoretically replace the rear wing DRS. So one set of holes in the DRS zones outside of 1 sec and both sets inside to facilitate passing.

Porpoising is easy to fix, hell I could do it on an F1 car if I could figure out their shocks and raise ride height along with drilling a few 1" holes in the front of the tunnels but it is hard to fix without impacting performance. I just don't like limited testing with massive new regulations that bring in issues that are essentially impossible to simulate.

It is a safety issue also since different tracks are going to induce more porpoising and someone is going to have a major off.

The weight issue is one I can't cry about. If you have to run heavy and have a hefty driver like OTTOMH Lewis, Max, Russell and Latiffi oh well so sad everyone has scales.

Would be funny as hell if Yuki won the WDC because he is a pixie.

So now the ball is in Haas' court regarding Mazepin's future. If they have the funds already for 2022 I could see them keeping him, if not then I'd bet they're 100% shopping the seat around.

Does Haas remove him now or keep him?
