The fact that there are so many celebrities at this race even though 99.9% of them know nothing about F1 (or auto racing in general) has made me feel less interested in this race. Feels like most of the build up and hype for the race has been talking about how many celebrities would be there, not about what might happen on track.

This is the trend in F1, "destination" tracks, which means street circuits in fancy cities. Las Vegas is next.
The Long Beach Grand Prix should be on the shopping list as well. Chris Pook tried to make it happen a few years ago (I think before Liberty Media took over). Maybe when the current contract with IndyCar is up, they'll try again.
