It’s a continuation of what they did last year after the season was paused due to COVID. The idea is to limit the amount of time spent in the garage with hundreds of people in close proximity for an entire weekend. In short, it’s a COVID policy, not something they are supposed to do permanently.

Can someone explain the charter system and why some people regard it with disdain?
I understand the concept but apparently there are things about it that I don’t get.

I think the disdain comes from locked in spots from teams that aren't necessarily competing for wins IE spire Motorsports last year (although spire claims to be building competing teams starting this year with the 7 with lajoie)
The charter system was put in place to give the owners something tangible to own for being a part of the organization. Before they only owned the cars, parts, the shop, etc and those things minus the "the shop" become antiquated and aren't worth anything when new things and rules come to the market. Now the owners can sell something to someone in the future and have something of value.

I'd like to see the extended math on how Chase got the pole over McDowell

Being the defending champ probably had a lot to do w/it.

That wasn't in the formula anywhere but somehow a 15% fastest lap outweighs the other 85%

Erik Jones has to drop to the rear for today’s race because he changed engines during the Daytona 500 race week. NASCAR says dropping to the rear for the 500 isn’t much of a punishment.
I honestly had no clue that was a rule.

They’re making it up as they go

It's stupid for it to transfer from the previous week but they should be allowed to change engines after the thursday races, not sure what the rule is now.

Truex drove from the back of the field twice last Tuesday night before crashing out. With the amount of stage cautions, starting at the rear isn't that bad now

I wish we could have swapped the weather in Daytona for last weekend and this weekend.

The way the trucks were spinning in the rain, I’m actually curious how the big boys would fare in a similar environment.

Same, looks beautiful there today. Want to see these guys on rain.

This Bowyer and Gordon segment

I'm hoping they do a similar segment at Bristol on the dirt

I would pay good money to watch those guys destroy cars on an open circuit.
Did you guys see the golf cart racing where Gordon launched himself clean out of the cart on a corner?
