I refuse to believe (at this point) that Elliot is THAT much better than the field at road courses in general.

I think he is. It's not unlike when Gordon went on his run at road courses in the late 90's. He's just so smooth hitting all his spots and shifts accordingly. As Rusty says, he just "dumps" it into the turns.
