Looking at those sites, with 4 not being selected it’s tough to see Tech getting picked. Hopefully they go with the awesome story of the new stadium/tornado and Tech gets the nod. The turf and the ability to get games in should be a benefit for Tech over Southern Miss.

According to D1, it would be Charlotte not getting the bid (which is a little odd to me) EDIT: or were they talking about hosting the conference tourny?

D1 Baseball

quote:

• I love that the committee put Louisiana Tech, Charlotte and Southern Miss all on the board. I expected one of those teams to miss the cut — likely Charlotte or USM. But I’m glad to see all three on there because all three have had terrific seasons. Now, we’ll see which of those three teams end the season in the Top 16 as hosts, and that could depend on which club has the deepest and most impressive run in the conference tournament in a couple of weeks. It’s worth noting that Charlotte bid to host in Gastonia, N.C., at the FUSE Ballpark there. The ballpark holds anywhere from 4-5K with standing room only included. Clearly, Charlotte would love to host at its home ballpark, but that isn’t in the cards this spring. Charlotte hopes that will be an option sooner rather than later, however.

Charlotte is lacking the big wins Tech has. Arkansas, Ole Miss and five of eight against Southern Miss.

Splitting 4-4 with ODU is what’s holding them back. They really needed that extra win.

Conference USA tournament is going to be huge for hosting

Well hopefully that’s 2 down with Charlotte and Southern Miss. Still need 2 more and the NCAA loves sites all over the country in an attempt to grow the game. Pitt and Gonzaga seem like the other 2 that should be out.

How many days prior to Selection Monday do they announce the hosts?

Maybe. A good showing against ODU would help a lot leading into the tournament.

The wheels are falling off of Ole Miss and LA Tech destroyed them in their head-to-head matchup. South Carolina could also pretty easily fall out of hosting as well, because their metrics are pretty terrible outside of RPI. They can definitely play themselves into the 16 with three games against Kentucky and then @ Tennessee.

I don't mean to beat up on these two schools as unworthy, because I don't think that is the case, I just think the flaws for the other bubble schools have been well documented or are obvious.

I'd assume these seven teams are battling for three spots:

LA Tech
Southern Miss
Charlotte
Pittsburgh
Gonzaga
South Carolina
Ole Miss

All seven of these teams have flaws and any of the seven IMO could play their way in or out.

Also, I can't imagine Charlotte bidding to hot at a stadium 30-45 minutes from their campus will help them. It is a shame they couldn't bid their own stadium, because it is a beautiful facility.

I don't think that is being done in advance. They'll announce either Sunday night or at the selection show.

Tulane takes game one against UCF on a walkoff sac fly in extra innings. Need to sweep these guys or at least take 3/4 to keep an at-large berth alive

The AAC is so bad. Jewett must be thanking his lucky stars.

Sure is. Tulane has played one good team in conference and got raped all weekend by a total score of 34-16

Annnnnd they have one of the best atmospheres in college baseball. I don’t foresee them being left out. It’s not who are the top 16 teams this year.

Here we go again! Every year, every sport, Tech blows it's chance at glory late in the season.

UTSA threw a lot tonight, so hopefully they’ve burned their best arms for tomorrow. But yeah, I’m definitely a little concerned we are seeing the typical Tech finish

It’s weird. Houston should be way better. UCF and USF should be better too. I’m praying that some P5 school comes and takes Jewett after this season

None of those teams should ever be bad between the HS and JUCO talent all around them. They should always compete.

If you wanna watch a cripple fight, tune in to ESPN+. Cajuns and UT Arlington are in the 14th inning and neither team can hit the ball:

Extra innings increase strike out rates like crazy because every hitter is trying to be a hero

So many guys coming up to bat sporting 0-6 lines tonight. UTA has a runner on 2nd with 2 outs. They may mercifully end this game after this pitching change.
