I was thinking of writing TD.com and drawing some truck nuts in the road but these guys would just ruin it.

Okay, that makes much more sense. Today was first time I saw it I guess and way it was written it seemed to be today.
Yeah I think the news broke today, but on TV they said it happened after Stage 17.

This would be awesome.

Fun stage to watch at-least at the end.
I've never watched a time trail in full so tomorrow should be interesting to watch.
What can we expect tomorrow? Any chance a GC could jump way up in the rankings? Does Roglic basically have the jersey won, baring a crash or mechanical issue?
can't wait!

So the organizers threw Jumbo's director out for him throwing a hissy fit
The organizers should have had a better process for inspecting a bike, while I doubt anyone on the tour is mechanical doping it could happen.
If they have a question they should put an official with the bike from the end of the stage and if they don't have some form of NDT available have a team mech tear it down as they watch. This is what series like F1 do, the officials never touch the car UNLESS they see a potential issue, the team mechanics just tear down each sub-system the techs want to inspect
Jumbo's Bianchi frames have press-fit BBs which are probably glued in and a ham-fisted tech wanting to take the bearings out could literally destroy the bottom bracket shell. I have no problem with the inspections but you can't have some rando tech wrenching on the riders bikes.
I also get why they are interested in looking at the Jumbo bikes but I suggest they would be better served boning up on chemistry and biology and not bother with the mechanical engineering aspect.

Yes, no way Pog gets a minute on him, outside of a crash, mechanical, horrible bike change, or Rog just having an awful day the yellow is sewn up. If it was 20 seconds or less lead I would say Pog would have a chance, but no way with essentially a minute to makeup and Rog starting last will know what Pog is doing the whole time.

Way up no, not in the top 10 at least, there will be good time trialers that jump 10 or more spots farther down the board, I say this without looking into it but it often happens.
In the top ten, there is a chance for an important jump. Porte. He is about 1:40 behind Lopez who is in third now. This is a gap Porte AKA Tasmanian Devil can make up on an ITT. Richie is an all-rounder but with a big slice of climber in his legs. Lopez AKA Superman is more of a pure climber. I haven't really studied his past races but Columbians are said as a rule to not do well over short punchy climbs like today's. I don't put much stock in generalizations like that but it is out there in the cycling world. So in my opinion the race to watch today is the race for the third spot on the podium.
ETA I forgot to mention the other shakeup that will probably happen is Richard Carapaz will likely take the Polka Dots from Pog. The points are based on the time for the actual climb and Carapaz can loaf along on the flat portion then give 100% on the climb, Pog doesn't have that luxury.

I Second that I hope you are there. Take pics for us.
Also, cutoff time for Sam Bennet getting eliminated due to time cut is 54:44. Which right around 40.0 km/h average speed.

Thanks for the response Obtuse!
I believe the best time for the sprinters to be safe will be around edit: around 54 minuets. At-least what the commentators calculated. It’s a 25% time cut so add about 12 minuets or more to the best time and anyone behind that time is cut and won’t ride in Paris.

Any chance this happens? I would hate for the green jersey to go to Sagan because of a time cut.

I would say unlikely I think winning time will be somewhere in the 55:45-56:15 minute area.

the only question is Pogacar putting too much energy into the flat section. The climb will be the interesting part.
