If this is true then Boston is retarded. You will never get fair value in a trade for a guy like Betts, but Boston can not get completely hosed here.....if they do then it likely be one of worst transactions we’ll see this decade.

Verdugo was a top 5 prospect for them last year and has like a year of service time. He is pretty valuable even if he doesn’t technically qualify as a “prospect”

gonsolin is also top 5 and the only reason he isnt top 3 is because of age

Well I'm away of that, but from what I've seen rumored Gonslin is the best prospect heading back for them. Verdugo is a nice young player and a steal but again as you said not a prospect and also doesn't hurt the Dodgers considering their depth.

He is not a steal. He is a former top prospect who performed well in his first season in the major leagues with a ton of value and is being treated as such if this trade happens.

He was 4 for the Dodgers on Baseball America 6 on BP MLB Pipeline and the last Fangraphs list
I dunno what people are expecting in this era for one year of a guy, even a player as good as Betts. It’s a nice deal for Boston especially if they’re dumping some money

Gonsolin is probably a mid rotation guy, not sexy but Boston needs cheap guys like that in the worst way right now. The Benintendi comp is a good one. I think it’s about what they should expect for a deal like this in today’s MLB

I mean, the Red Sox pretty much have to get a better return for Betts than Arizona got for Goldschmidt, right? And I think you could certainly make a case that Verdugo and Gonsolin are roughly comparable to Carson Kelly and Luke Weaver.
At that point, I think the question becomes how much more do the Dodgers have to cough up to compensate for the fact that Betts is better than Goldschmidt?

Supposedly they’d be taking on Price and sending back Pollock. I think Verdugo is better than Kelly as well
