I've watched NASCAR my entire life. I have watched Newman's entire Cup Series career. I want to cry tears of joy right now.

Great news for Newman.

He may have a long road to recovery but he is alive.

Hat tip to the safety crew and the engineers that work to make it as safe as can be.

Wow. Between the screens on track and the lack of info I was fearing for the worst. Such a good update. Stay strong Newman

Newman in serious condition... but doctors say his injuries are not life threating
unbelievable considering, an absolute miracle!

Whoever designed the safety of those cars should get a massive raise.

Haven’t followed all the safety improvements and regulations but this is really impressive and speaks well to NASCAR’s engineers that that wreck doesn’t produce life threatening injuries.

No doubt. Glad the guy is going to be ok. And to whatever team designed the safety features in these cars, good job. I know you can never make a race car completely safe, but to have a driver have non life threatening injuries after that crash is a marvel.

This has to be tough for Larry McReynolds to cover. Lots of memories have to be popping up in his head.

Damn, if drivers can survive that series of collisions and survive I’m seriously impressed with the safety of current NASCAR race cars

That’s insane

Not to derail the thread but I believe that you can find this in the final report that was put out.

Hopefully the serious injury isn’t any type of brain injury from that Lajoie hit

Brain injury would seem life threatening.

I bash NASCAR for things they have done to the aerodynamic design of the car, but I must give them infinite credit for their safety innovations since Dale Sr.'s death.

Good news.

I cannot believe these cars can wreck that bad and the driver survives. I mean, so thankful drivers do survive those wrecks. But man, the technology that goes into the safety features of those cars are incredible.

The can’t believe it. Once again I am stunned a driver survived a wrecked. Who’s ever working on the safety features keep up the good work.
