No. It is one measure.

The point is it is just a valid as you confining it to recently history.

It’s pretty easy to see that you have little sense of history and most certainly didn’t grow up in Chicago.

I know this isn't specifically a Brewers thread, but I still think we should try to get Kato Kaelin to post here.

Yadi is, without question, HOF.

If he is, then he'd be one of the worst.

He's a great defensive player who is basically the modern day Jim Sundberg. A good, solid player who had a couple seasons well above their average, but not enough of them to warrant inclusion in the Hall of Fame.

9x gold glover, 9x all-star, 2x ws champ, silver slugger, career .282 hitter, good for 17th all time at the position.

Dude is in the HoF.

Ted Simmons should be in the HOF as well. Second best catcher of his era but his era included Johnny Bench.

I never took much issue with the Yadi HoF thing a few years ago, but now that he's still playing at this level I don't think it's much of a question anymore unless you are simply a hater and can't get over that part of it.

18 HR's in 2017, 20 HR's last year driving in 80.

Up to .280 this year 3 HR 25 RBI, leads all catchers in baseball with those 25 RBI. He's also only struck out 10 times with 5 walks. His K:BB ratio is unreal for his position and power numbers.

And his defense, while obviously not what it was, is still very good.

Assuming he finishes solid this year, and next year is his final year and he still has at least another solid season, that will give him another 3-4 years of elite production for his position at the latter stages of his career. Still at that elite level about to turn 37.

Sundberg: 3x all star. 6 gold gloves
Yadi: 8x all star. 9x golf glove.

At this moment both 16 year careers. Yadi well over 50% all star/gg. Sundberg at his best, GG, less than 40.

Sundberg 248, 95, 624
Yadi: 282, 149, 884

HOF Monitor: sundberg 87 likely 100
HOF Monitor: Yadi 160

Basically modern sundberg. Lol

Yadi is good. And prob will be a HOF.

But when you put his stats and WAR against Benxh or Carter you see how great the disparity is.

He certainly isn’t Sundberg, but he is 30 points less in WAR than Carter. Granted Carter played 3 more seasons but I don’t think anyone puts Yadi better than low 50s if plays more seasons. Which would put him where Ted Simmons is at.

More likely to finish around 45 then 50.

Oh yeah I think he gets in easy at this point, also think even with the last year of his contract next year he signs for another year or two.

As do I. But I should be at wait.

And when he gets in it opens the door for Simmons.

Honestly, if you look at bench an s Carter you have a hard time putting Yadi in.

Or look at Pudge or and Piazza.

But he is squarely in the Lombardi range.

So, he will be one of the worst catchers to go in.

If I'm reading it right, he's saying Yadi deserves to be in the HOF but would be at (or near) the bottom of the list of HOF catchers.

I would argue that if he's last on the list, it's truly an elite group. Which it should be, because it's the Hall of Fame. You could further argue that if Yadi is the minimum standard for HOF worthy catchers, it's possibly the most elite position group in the Hall.

Correct. It is truly hard to get in for a catcher. Maybe a bit to hard.

Simmons isn’t in. Torture not in for his work as player. Lance Parrish ain’t in. Elston Howard ain’t in.
