Ratings for the Daytona 500 were down. It earned a 5.1 overnight rating, down from a 6.5 rating last year.

Some argue this is due to competing with the Olympics, but the 2014 Daytona 500 had to do the same (with a long rain delay) and still performed better.

They need to make every commercial break the 'side by side' cameras. It's the only way to keep people watching (Unless its a commercial break due to caution)

They used it @ weird times yesterday, and of course w/ 20 to go they went to full commercial, came back going to lap 16, showed racing to lap 14, then full commercial again till lap 9... that's completely unacceptable for the most dramatic part of a sporting event.

Chevy leads the fewest and finishes 1-2.

That was an interesting side story.

I think Chevy has its work cut out for it on superspeedways.

Which is odd because Chevy would dominate restrictor plate racing as recent as a couple of years ago.

Why the shortage? Don’t they field 40?

Yes 40 is what they field. I'm seeing people blame the charter system but not sure since you're gonna get in regardless this week with 4 spots being available.

If we all wanted to, we could purchase a car, get a team together and race it this weekend.

I'd say yes. Great exposure. Heck, I think he should pay for it.

Plus Viagra is generic now, so Mark Martin quit.

It's because Nascar priced themselves out of sponsors.

Same thing is about to happen to the NFL.

Are the people who are upset fine with Blaney turning Kurt and Chase driving out of control?

Blaney’s move was douchebaggery.

I like Chase but he got what he deserved and took out others doing it.

First race at the 1.5 mile tracks and Truex's car flunked inspection multiple times and the car chief has been tossed out of the track and sent home by NASCAR.

Chevy’s struggled in qualifying. Hendrick particularly looks to be continuing the slump. Do they not know what to do with the new bodystyle?

Not surprised since only 40 showed up for Daytona.

Looks like it may wash out tomorrow.

As an aside, why are these season long threads a good idea?
