Uhhh no, we most definitely weren't.
I think Texas and USC would both win more times then not as I don't think bama would have the offense to keep up.

Those 05 teams were all world and some of the best ever. This year's version of Bama is not that. They're very efficient on both sides of the ball as per usual, but not as talented or deep as past Bama teams. They benefit from the weakest SEC in years. USC and Texas would both beat this year's Bama team.

Now that 2011 team is a different story. That team vs 05 USC/UT would be instant classics and a pick em

Let me guess. You probably thought they were better than Penn State that year too, right? Texas won in Columbus and had the best player in college football. OSU was not as good as them.

I love this bana defense, but they've never played against an offense like that 05 squad. That offensive line was awesome and they'd slow down the bama pass rush.

UT had a Top 10 ranked D that year, maybe top 5 and USC still scored 38 points on them.

While USCs D wasn't good, it was VY they were trying to stop and I don't know how anyone stops him?

But UT played on O more to Bama's strength while USC would give Bama way too much to think about and way too much trouble...Bama gas to crowd the line for Bush/White, the TEs, horizontal, vertical passing attack. Too many weapons, Bama D spread out.

And with Bama's QB USC would have the luxury of focusing on the run like LSU did.

UTs D plus VY wins their game.

USC's O pulls away from Bama...like they almost did in the 1st half against UTs tough D... there's no VY on Bama to keep up and match score for score.

2011 UA is the best team in our history and IMO the best CFB team I've ever seen.

2011 UA had the best defense in CFB history, had a far better offensive line and power running game and AJ (when healthy) was a far better passer than Hurts.

Neat

Too bad that's now what the thread is about

2016 UA could beat those 2005 USC and UT teams. 2011 UA WOULD beat those two teams

So cause 2011 bama would beat them, the 2016 could as well

Makes sense. Solid contribution

04 USC > 05 USC

04 USC would wreck this Bama team

05 USC did have basically teh best college offense ever

This. They ran a pretty vanilla pro-style offense with an absolute statue at qb, and were still able to average 50ppg and close to 600 yards. 05 USC is the best college offense of all time, it's just a shame that it was paired with usc's worst defense during the Carroll era.

2011 UA lost AT HOME to a team Qb'ed by Jordan Jefferson and Jarrett Lee. And you for sure beat Matt Lienart and VY who are just a tad better

Texas would win hands down.

I've never seen a player like VY single handedly win games, even with the entire defense knowing it's him they must stop. That's not meant to discredit the other playmakers. Ramonce Taylor was a stud in the making but couldn't stay out of trouble. To basically win against 2 Heisman winners and the SC squad in their backyard by stealing the title in the final minutes was impressive to say the least.

I don't see this year's Bama squad as having the firepower to stop a team built like that. Jalen Hurts would be exposed in a game like that.

I agree as long as it isn't LSU's 11th game in 10 weeks.

I think 2016 Alabama is probably better than 2005 Texas but Texas would beat them if that makes any sense. I just don't see how the Bama defense would be able to contain Vince Young. Bama's always had problems stopping potent spread offenses with top duel threat QBs and Vince Young with 2005 Texas might have been the best of the bunch. If any team is built to score on and beat Bama, it's that team.
