I can only imagine what Pop will say.
"You gonna be a Spur?"
"Sell me on it coach. I can't make up my mind."
"Nah. Sell yourself. I've got to meet with players that want to be here. How's your Latvian? I need a translator for a real player"

That's what I was trying to say. Maybe I didn't do a good job of getting that across.

Why? I'm not a cap guru, but don't the mavs have a great shot to sign another max-level player next offseason with the cap bump? Not to mention there are still a few S&T possibilities. You're speaking in absolutes, which is premature.

There isn't a max level player out there that could improve the Mavs besides Durant. And he isn't coming. The Mavs simply aren't threatening. Dirk made them a threat every year.
It's pretty unusual to be so cap tied with an unfinished roster and an average starting lineup. But the Mavs have pulled it off. When the cap goes up, everyone will have a free for all.
I think Jordan will stay with the Clippers and the Mavs will sign and trade Ellis for Hibbert, which will be the move that ensures mediocrity for years to come.
I will add that I hate the Mavs like any good Rockets fan. But this is the first time I've been positive Houston would be better for the next few years.

I do think the Mavs are in an sticky situation right now, especially if they miss on DAJ. Stein something on the lines of them being a low lottery team if they miss on him.
It is like they want to chase a championship with Dirk still around and they have the cap space to do it, but they just can't seem to find the right pieces to fit around him. The Rondo move was a killer.
It feels like they need to go through a real rebuild, but can't because of Dirk.
I think the Mavs are the type of situation that if they do remain a playoff team or close to it that they will be a player in FA.
I am super interested to see what the Grizz will do with actual cap space and Gasol/Conley locked up.

Marco Bellinelli will sign with the Kings for three years, $19 million

Rondo move was brutal, but I respect Cuban for trying to get Dirk another title before he leaves. After Dirk retires we will absolutely be in rebuilding mode. Biggest issue for this season is we have to trade our pick unless it falls in the top 7, and I'm guessing we'll finish in between 8-14.

@BobbyMarks42: LAC used bi-annual on Farmar last year who was eventually waived. So if DeAndre walks, LAC left with $2.1m of ML and minimums for the roster
