Marc Stein on sportscenter seems to think Cousins will still get traded to the Lakers. He said Lakers are trying for a Cousins/LMA frontcourt

The Knicks should trade Melo....but Melo wants his cake and to eat it too. He knows winning or being in the hunt defines great players...but he also wants to be this great business empire in a big market.
Melo not signing with Chicago last summer is something he will regret for the rest of his playing career.

It's actually the 8th, the first is when negotiations can start.

I think there are 50 million reasons he won't regret signing with NY ($). He was hurt last year, so he couldn't have won anything last year anyway.
Trading him is possible, but really who is he going to help? I think he is the highest paid player in the league this coming year (until James signs his deal). Maybe they can swing a S&T with the Cavs for Love or the Clips for Jordan?
One place that could make a nice offer is Washington. I think Carmelo is from Baltimore. Pair him with Wall, Beal, Gortat.. that team takes a big leap forward. The Wizards can offer Nene (trade bait), Porter Jr, Oubre, plus a couple of picks. Money works out..

hence why I said playing career. Of course he doesn't regret the money...but he isn't going to win with the Knicks. Chicago provided his best chance at heading to the Finals.

Wonder where David Lee (Warriors) ends up?? Two teams that have shown the most interest are the Suns & Spurs

I like Mozgov, but giving a center 50+ million who will be in his thirties for most of the contract is a gamble. Maybe it's because I've watched Z and Andy hobble up and down the court for the past 15 years.
The guy has only played 293 games in the NBA and has never averaged 26 mpg in a season. Hopefully he still has a little left in the tank.

Legit insider on the Rockets' board says the Rockets are meeting Lamarcus Aldridge in LA on the first day of free agency.

Good for them. So are like 8 other teams. They aren't getting him.

I mean no one can tell the future. But I'd say you guys have an extremely low chance. So low I'd say it's incredibly unlikely. Focus elsewhere.

And I'm not the GM... I don't focus anywhere.

Why would you have a chance?

Tell me how you think the rockets could do it from a salary cap perspective

Why would you have a chance?
But what makes you think the Rockets have less of a chance than any other team?
Aldridge has said nothing one way or the other about where he wants to go.

You don't have the money. Morey will have to maneuver, which I'm sure he can. Why go to a team that will have to maneuver when you can go to a team that doesn't?
And I'm sorry, if the Lakers or Spurs are offering the same money, there's no way he's going to Houston.

Spurs are old and are all going to be retiring in a year or so.
Lakers suck and are years away from being good.
Aldridge is 30 years old and is not going to want to go through a rebuilding process. He wants to win now.
He's from Texas, the Rockets just went to the Western Conference Finals, and they are in win-now mode and are in position to compete for years... why not go to Houston?

There's also that Green and Splitter guys. Then there's a Mills character they have running around.
Then there's some guy in France that's probably a better athlete and meaner than that Duncan guy.
