Why do people keep saying this.

because the spurs are going to create cap room for him, they've been reported as his #1 destination for a while now, and they represent the perfect fit for what he wants to accomplish right now in his career. I would love him as a laker, but I just don't see him wasting years in his prime while we hope we get KD or westbrook

The Spurs aren't about to win a championship. I'm not saying the Lakers are but the Spurs definitely aren't.

The Spurs with LMA are the favorites next year, IMO
Posted on 6/29/15 at 4:10 pm to DynastyDawg
I mean they aren't on the same level as the warriors or cavs but they'll be in the discussion with LMA

The Spurs are two years removed from a championship with the same (albeit aged) roster. They are way closer to a championship than the Lakers, and already have a young emerging star in Leonard.

Assuming they get Timmy back for pennies on the dollar, I like their odds.

eh, I wouldn't go that far

Idk about Leonard. I like him and would love him on my team but he's never gonna be a superstar. He's not progressing like one should.
He's a guy id give 15 mill but not 22 mill.
Pop, Manu, and Tim ponder whether to retire after every season. That's not a team you want to sign up for long term in my opinion.
Without Pop and Tim they ain't winning shite

Not even top 5

Luckily his max only starts at about 15.9 mil, this offseason.

If I have two superstars, and I can add any player in the league, it's Kawhi Leonard. But if I have no superstars, he's not in the Top 15 guys I want.

You're right, he's not a superstar, but he's a very good compliment to a superstar.

Well, earlier you asked why he was a lock to the Spurs, and I know you're a Lakers fan. What other teams should he consider? The Mavs? I'm sure he will, but what do they really have right now? Dirk and Parsons? Pretty easy to choose the Spurs over that combo. The Knicks are laughable as an organization. I don't see how Toronto lures him away, as they aren't over flowing with talent.
The Spurs are simply the best team that wants him (and can fairly easily fit him in), and he'd play for the best coach in the league. I'm sure he's seen how Duncan has remained relevant well into his 30's and hopes that Pop could somehow manage him in the same manner (not that he's as good as Duncan, but they have similar games).

Honestly I think the Rockets would be an awesome fit.
Take less money and go to Cleveland?
I mean if you're looking for a championship then look for a championship. Don't half arse it.

I guess the Rockets could give away Ariza and one of Motiejunas or Jones and he could fit there, but they'd have to salary dump those guys with no incoming salary. The Rockets missed the boat with Bosh last season, he would have been the perfect fit (I'm aware that he got injured at the end of the season).
He'd have to take the MLE to go to Cleveland, unless they work out a sign and trade with Love. All signs are that Love is re-upping in Cleveland, though.

This. Houston would be unstoppable with Aldridge. He has an efficient midrange game. Perfect complement to Moreyball. But I think he hates Dwight or something. We haven't even been listed in discussions. Morey does apparently have a meeting with him though.

Dwight's not a very popular or productive dude these days.
Can't say I'm real sad we missed that boat. It definitely doesn't sting like it did last year anyway.
