What the frick? I'm sorry bro, but the first chance you get to lock up player with AD's talent you fricking do it. Seriously.

You should probably read it again before calling his analysis short sided. The 10 mil extra would be next offseason.

You're correct. Still, if we had a real chance at KD or another max guy, we could make moves to free up the space. We have quite a few really good contracts after the spending this year. With Gordon and Anderson expiring, you have the Ajinca deal(good value), Tyreke (A steal at this point. I say this as someone who is not a huge Tyreke fan), Quincy Pondexter (steal), and Cunningham all on value deals. We can make space if we need to.

And it wasn't included in the quote in the comment that I responded to.

The other comment doesn't mention the $10m figure. So you had to read that somewhere

Do you not think paying him what he deserves a year before they have to might ingratiate him to the franchise a little more?

The extension doesn't start until the 2016 offseason. He just has the benefit of a signed agreement a year earlier.

What is the difference between these two things?

Why is it terrible?

because he applauds the bass signing but thought we should have kept ed davis. how does that make any sense? he wants us just to say frick this season and try to tank and keep our top 3 pick? thats stupid as well. there also was no mention of the hibbert trade or us trying to unload some of our contracts, like swaggys

Which would have been great. But as Lowe says, it could have pissed AD off. Waiting to offer him the extension forces him to take a risk in the event that he suffers a career ending injury this season.

And a few of you are acting like Lowe dropped some "Pels are dumbasses" bomb. The tone of the article came off strongly as it not being ideal for the Pelicans, but still being the smartest move.

He said the bass signing was a good move after not resigning Davis. That makes complete sense. And he definitely mentioned hibbert.

so he complains that we didnt re sign ed davis, and then says that even though everyone complains about him, but then says that we got a good replacement for him the next sentence?

my fault on that one, my opinion remains.

The crux of the issue. He didn't say enough about them.

I agree. Free agent class isn't that strong next offseason and if you get the vibe that Davis wants it done then you do it. It is interesting to think how they could have used it because IMO they haven't made very good use of their assets the last few years.

Edit: and it's a lot easier for someone like Kawhi to delay his money and trust the spurs to put that flexibility to good use. That's my main problem with fans wanting stars to make financial sacrifices for the team, teams usually frick it up

Zach Lowe just edited his article

quote:

OMG THE LAKERS OFFSEASON WAS BRILLIANT, IT LOOKS DUMB NOW BUT WAIT UNTIL KEVIN DURANT AND LEBRON ARE BEGGING TO SIGN NEXT YEAR

He apologized for accidentally deleting that part in the editing process

For a team coming off their worst season, the Lakers had a decent offseason.

The Russell pick will be a solid choice, unless Okafor just blows the doors off the league.

Playing with Kobe means Hibbert won't have to play at a fast pace.

They signed a couple of guys who can teach the young guys something, with a slim chance they wont be terrible.

I'd give them a B- for the offseason.

I'm pretty sure missing a paragraph means you didn't read it well, playboy.

I mean if you read it well, you would have... well actually read it instead of WestCoastAg-ing it.
