Hearing that SJV beat SGS in the jamboree by 4 points, so you may be right.

Tough loss but you have to respect their Marquette style approach to scheduling pre-conference games - anyone anywhere.

Not so fast my friend…. SGS coaches played this like the jamboree it was while SJV played it like a tournament final. Same thing happened last year

Horrible take Bear Tiger

SJV has best player in league this year and new coaching staff
Not deep and top heavy, but this is not comparable to last years groups

Updated Rankings:

1. St. George (1) - The Dragons have won the Dunham and SJV tournaments. Both teams they have come out of the losers bracket to do so. They suffered a loss to CHS in the SJV tournament and turned around and defeated them the next day.

2. St. Jean Vianney (4) - The Gators defeated SGS in the jamboree. They cruised to the championship game in their tournament before losing to SGS in the championship game. They appear to be one of the teams that will make a deep run in March.

3. CHS (3) - The Bears are starting to gel. After wins over Parkview, Central Private, and St. George, they dropped 2 straight to SJV and SGS to finish 3rd in the SJV Tournament.

4. OLOM (2) - The Blue Jays started the season hot, but have cooled off a little. Expect them to bounce back this weekend in the SGS tournament.

5. St. Aloysius (5) - The Lions have suffered some close losses early, but are improving and look to compete this week and weekend. They face CHS in the first round of the SGS tournament, which could be a big statement win.

6. St. Theresa (unr) - The Warriors have impressive size downlow and had some good wins this past weekend over St. Jude and MBS.

7. MBS (6) - The Pelicans are currently on the bubble in this early projection but will have plenty of opportunity to knock off some higher ranked teams.

8. St. Thomas More (7) - The Eagles have a game this week versus another bubble team in St. Jude.

Incredible atmosphere all weekend over at the SJV showdown. The top three teams are as advertised. Looking for more fireworks this weekend over at St George!

What year was your 8th grade year? Was there an Elite 8 type championship tournament at the end of the season?

Always looking to add to the CSAL History Thread.

I can tell you 87 is incorrect. Redemptorist did not participate in the CHS Final 4 (although they had the best team). If I recall correctly I don't think Redemp 8th ever participated in the CHS final 4, it may have been something to do with 2 HS trying to get the same players. In 1987 the 3rd place game ended up OLOM vs Holy Family. If I were to guess it was St. Aloy & STM in the finals.

Updated Rankings:

1. OLOM (4) - The Blue Jays had an incredible weekend with wins over the previous top 3 teams including 2 wins over SJV to take home the St. George tournament championship. Their Big 3 are clicking right now.

2. St. Jean Vianney (2) - The Gators were able to fight their wat back to the championship after a 1st round loss against Mercy. They defeated St. George in the semi-finals but ultimately lost to the Blue Jay's again in the championship.

3. St. George (1) - It feels like you could throw these 3 top teams in a hat and pull them out for the 1-3 spots. SGS is at 3 right now, but could easily move back up with a couple wins.

4. CHS (3) - The Baby Bears are in a bit of a slump and need to get on the same page offensively if they are going to compete for a championship.

5. St Aloysius (5) - The Lions traded wins with CHS over the weekend. It appears they can only move up from here.

6. St. Theresa (6) - The Warriors went 2 and done this past weekend, but still look like #6 at this time.

7. MBS (7)

8. St. Thomas More (8)

Updated Rankings per request:

1. St. George (3) - As mentioned last update, you can pretty much throw the top 3 teams in a hat and pick them out to see who is #1. St. George gets the #1 ranking right now due to winning the St. Jude tournament.

2. St. Jean Vianney (2) - The Gators had a good weekend outside of 2 losses to St. George, one being in the championship game.

3. OLOM (1) - The Blue Jays have the injury bug, and it certainly showed with a 2 and out in the St. Jude tournament.

4. CHS (4) - The Bears lost to Ascension Catholic and then a heartbreaker to SJV. They still have not put it together this season.

5. St. Aloysius - (5) - The Lions had some ups and downs including a big win over OLOM and a loss to Ascension Catholic.

6. St. Thomas More (8) - The Eagles appear to be moving from bubble to lock status.

7. Ascension Catholic (unr) - 2 impressive wins this weekend have them in bracketology for the 1st time this season.

8. St. Theresa (6) - The Warriors appear to be fighting with MBS for the final spot.

I know this is a Baton Rouge thing , but have any of you guys in the jr high circuit heard of this 8th grader from Lafayette. I don’t remember which middle school he’s in. I think it might be Broussard middle. But he showed up on my tick tock feed showing he was the number one rated player in the state for 8th graders.

We need a men's CSAA league. Let the youngins have their fun but give me a St. Aloysius vs St. George game with a bunch of white fellas in their 40's. Even a shadow tournament at CHS after the elite 8 would suffice.
