The late 90s-early 2000s was a pretty dark time for the NBA

Scoring is the highest it’s been since the 84-85 season

ETA: I see pride has already taken care of this

The mid 80s would make me 77?

I thought this board loved that era more than any other....

1984-1994 are the golden years

1994-1998 is the worst basketball the NBA has ever produced. (Sorry Rockets fans)

Jordan saved the NBA for a few years with his comeback.

Lakers and Shaq saved the NBA after Jordan retired again.

Then it went to crap again.

The problem for me, is that there isn't much of a balance right now. It's all offense. And it seems at least half of the points that stars in today's League are making, is due to cheap arse ticky tacky fouls, a la James Harden. It makes the sport unwatchable at times.

They need to do something to bring back the balance. I'm not saying we need all the games to be sub-100, bc that's not the case. I do believe however, that the players should need to work for their points a little more than what they currently do.

Standards had to be lowered.

Bar has to be set even lower.

Why?

Most of the talent didn't get groomed in College long enough and most are only 2 years removed from the awesome AAU circuit where fundamentals are marginally taught.

Although I believe if a kid wishes to test the NBA out of high school or even after their freshman seasons, they should, the NBA is who allows it based off potential.

They created this monster in thr first place and not the players.

Potential. That is the name of the game. And for every home run there are more strike out than hits.

Why would a nba team want the Johnny Jones of the world coaching their talent?
