I haven't started handicapping it yet. Would like to hit the box trifecta again.

Let me know when you figure it out. Last year was horrible for me.
My last good bet on the derby was 2016 with a Nyquist and Exaggerator exacta for $50.

Million dolar race yet somehow it was a GII this year. Seems it used to be much smaller purse but GI. Race is over 100 years old so still not sure why it got dropped a grade in 2016.

I got to throw a few bucks at Mendelssohn. Destroyed the field in UAE.

Crowded top half
(Bovada odds as of April 20)
Justify, 4/1
Mendelssohn, 4/1
Audible, 5/1
Magnum Moon, 8/1
Bolt d'Oro, 9/1
Santa Anita
Still going with Bolt, looks like Man O' War. Has more work put in.

I think magnum moon has a triple crown shot. I’d say he’s the early favorite in the Belmont if he does indeed run it. If he wins the derby, I like his odds better than anyone since AP to sweep them. That horse is impressive.

2 early to even think about this
I'll try to put on another handicapping masterpiece like i did in Preakness and Belmont last year.
And a reminder, i'll have the PP's for Fridays Oaks card and Derby day(all other triple crown races), as soon as they come out.
just send me an email and i'll send you them.

I’m going like always the Arkansas Derby winner but I haven’t paid a lick of attention to the NY or FLA horses

It got downgraded for not producing the quality it used to. Same with the wood.
I’m super happy to have Mendelssohn at 44-1 right about now
Also, they are starting to drop like flies. Quip is out and probably gronkowski

After Mr Franks passed away, did they stop the breeding and racing business? I hadn't seen a Franks horse in a while, and was thinking about JJ's Red Roller(?), when he won on Belmont day i believe, from dead last at 7/1.
He had some really good horses, and would send his stock to Churchill and Arlington to run. As far as i knew, one of the real good owners. His horses always ran tough, and were always under bet when he shipped.
Didn't he also own Stalwars? The huge closer?

Gronkowski is officially out.
quote:
Gronkowski the horse will not be running at Churchill Downs on May 5. After a report on Monday of a “setback” that could dash plans for a Derby run, the horse’s owners announced that the horse has indeed been scratched. The horse ran a fever over the weekend that required antibiotics and won’t be making the trip to Louisville as a result.

John Franks from Shreveport? He died in 2003.
quote:
In 2002 poor health forced Franks to liquidate his horse racing and breeding operation of more than 500 horses, with 130 of the horses stabled at racetracks across the country.

I love international participation, but the horse hadn’t been past a mile.
He would’ve taken a shite load of money, though. But I don’t think I’ll be betting this year.

I like how they are doing the morning works this year. I can go back and watch instead of getting up early.
