And the early returns suggest the pros are going to eviscerate this course. Poulter was -3 after 3. Not much to go on, but I think you may see many scoring records fall this week
There's a good chance, but he also started on 11. They've said all week, you have to score on 7-13 because the other 11 holes will give you hell. Like you said, not much to go on, but traditionally at a US Open, the holes that you can "score" on still make you work pretty hard for birdies. I can't remember seeing someone start an Open with 3 consecutive birdies.
I do think it's still way too early to say Merion is a failure though. This has a chance to be a great tourney.

I hope it does, but it has been a train wreck up until now. I was watching this morning, and it even looks like the practice tee will be almost used up before they finish this thing.

I think they said they could have 25K spectators where other events can carry 300K.....

looks like the delay will be a long one this morning, per mcdowell.

You are correct. Merion got 18K last time. They are expecting to get 25K/day this time.
Recent Opens are getting from 200K-300K per week...
Still a huge drop off.

Apparently a couple hour window before the next system.

Looks like there's a few-hour window to play before next storm system rolls through. #USOpen to resume at 12:10 p.m. ET.

What? They had like 25 yards of available grass in front of where they were teeing from yesterday evening.

The overhead view they showed this morning sure didn't look like that. Looked like about 10 yards in front of whoever it was warming up. Unless they are using up one end of it and then moving to the other end.

This could be possible. The driving range looks like it's actually a fairway from one of the holes on the west course.

I believe it is, but they also had to put the grandstand in behind it.
