Holy Cow!
It may be a "falling knife", but we were buyers today.

FB @ $191, BA @ $288, MU @ $50, DIS @ $119, GS @$210, XLK @ $89, ABBV @ $85 ...

We've been rewarded handsomely today, thank you very much.
But this is not about where purchases will be tomorrow, rather where they'll be in a year or two.

You'd best stay in your safe space though. Seriously. . . .

CNBC ticker has DJIA down 463, also has an article posted 40 min ago saying down just 230 after a rebound.

Just a bit of volatility... lol

Yep. Who knows.
But CV headlines put Boeing's gastank debris and news of 737M deployment delays in the rearview mirror. CV-related decline in air travel takes carrier plane shortages off the table at a time BA couldn't fill them anyway. The 737 MAX should return to service mid/late-summer.
We'll see, but $288 seemed to me like a good re-entry point for BA..

Down 950, then climbed 700 points. Now back down to -675.

I would not be surprised to see the same action tomorrow in the AM.

Sitting this one out. Didn't really have a lot of cash on the sidelines anyways, and sure AF don't want to sell into this.

I am as well. I have some extra cash ready for when I do want to jump in, but I’m still probably going to give it some more time.

Don't be like this guy who was waiting on the sidelines to get back into the market.

Yep.
Different situation.
We'd accumulated fairly large cash positions with sales over the past month.

It's always fun when someone actually does time the market.

Good deal.

Nah, planning on giving it through the weekend. I think tomorrow may be down some more, but we'll see. If it gets low enough this afternoon, may pull the trigger.

I made this four or five years ago and I've posted it multiple times over the years

"Timing" is not our game. OTOH given this market's trading-range oscillations, our experience is if you don't take profits, they evaporate.

E.g., Bought BAC at ~$29 late-2018. Sold last month after a 20% run-up. Bought back in at $29 this afternoon. More analysis than trying to time the market. But often end up trading at perimeters of the range.

Our Q4 holdings ran-up across the board. Thumbed the nose at Uncle Sam, so held until Jan to cash out LTCGs. Obviously, did not anticipate this kind of pull back last month.

Looks like things will fall further, so we'll be back at it tomorrow.
