I would not. I've never tracked it, but between buying clients lunches every day of the week, and dinners out, as a single person it wouldn't surprise me if I exceeded $7K annually. Probably easily. Which is why I don't track it, becuase I'd rather enjoy, and not know.
Also, I've been toying around with buying a sous vide system and never haven't gotten around to it. A big thanks to this thread, becuase of which I've contacted Anova and I'm moving on this. I really have no issue with steak, which I eat way too much of, but I see it make fried chicken and fish. Fried chicken and fish without frying per se. It's difficult to do fish and chicken as a single person, at least it is for me. I can this this increasing both the quantity and quality of this for me. Not to mention fried food that really isn't fried has to be worlds healthier than what I do now.

saving money is just the tip of the iceberg of the benefits.
If trying to build wealth, you should probably only go out when you need a break from your own cooking.

We probably spend $600-700 (family of 4) eating out per month especially if I count my lunches. I never ate out as a kid so I really enjoy taking my kids to different places.

that ain't shite.
I probably spend $1500/month eating out and another 800 in groceries.

For one person, that can tend to be a bit much, if she's not eating any "nice" dinners that run ~$50 a person.
My wife and I are at $500 a month, but that counts any meal not created from groceries. So we're $250 a person a month I suppose, but I'd bet I'm really $100 and her $400. Her work schedule almost forces her into buying small lunches.

No. The enjoyment of a night out with fine food and drinks is a nice break from work and kids.

Working downtown I spend $12 a day on lunch easily. I'm fine with it and have just decided it's part of my salary . Nothing worse then leftovers or a shitty sand which during a wrk day

Half the time we were just too lazy to cook after a long day of work. This is main reason. Other times we enjoy nice restaurants though.
That's why you have to commit to the budget. I've said on either here or FDB before, but we make a menu out for 4-5 weeks at a time. It's easy to commit to once you plan it all out. We usually blow the date night budget out with one really nice dinner and one Casa Garcia or Pho a month.

I spend in the neighborhood of $600 on myself alone for food. I eat at the cafe for every lunch and occasionally breakfast. I cook dinner at home most of the time. If I had to guess without looking, I spend about $200 on groceries a month and the rest is eating away from home.
I do not plan on changing this behavior.

Doubtful yes, but very very doable. We spend $120/ week for a family of 4. That's $30 each. We eat well. Given, we eat a new meal every night and my wife and I take leftovers for lunch 4/5 days a week.
You can do a burger for 4 nights in a row for $6. Pack some cheap sandwich lunches for $10/ week.
We eat extremely well now a days with all our options, if we ate like we did in the 60s, 70s, and 80s then it's extremely feasible to eat on under $30/ week per person.

Yep, having a nice lunch keeps me sane. I also frequently eat out for dinner, but that's because I enjoy it (plus it's an easy setting to socialize with friends and co-workers).
Flipping through the last few months on Mint, I probably spend about $700 per month eating out with another $250 or so added per month for treating the girlfriend.
No intention of modifying said behavior.

No, eating out is one of my few pleasures in life.

$400 is a ton. I'm assuming she's talking about only paying for herself too, since that's what she did for her groceries. If she's eating fast food, then she ate out more than she ate at home. If this is nice restaurants, then she still ate out probably 2-3 times a week

Not a chance in hell.
You can't take it with you when you die, and I love to eat.

Saved 7k in one year?
My credit card summary says I spent 22k in 2016
I'd starve on $25 a week in groceries
