Worth it to live on the water?

Buying first residential property. Have always wanted to live on the water. Is it worth it if you can afford it? Or is it a giant pain in the arse? Dock, seawall, etc.

I think your hold the answer deep in yourself, The Ocean.

How the hell would we know what’s worth what to you? If I wanted to live by the ocean or in the mountains, some random message board goons aren’t going to convince me otherwise. You think your subtle, but you aren’t.

How much more expensive is it than "not on water"? If i can afford it, on the water is always going to be my choice, and I'd sacrifice in other places to be there. But only you can answer that question.
One bonus to it...there's a limited amount of waterfront to buy on, with virtually unlimiited non-water lots. So never a terrible investment.

Well, I've never owned property on the water. I think it's a fair question asking about the pitfalls of buying a home on the water.

Expensive to maintain dock/seawall?

I suppose that depends on what water we're talking about. Could be great or a major pain in the arse.

Been on the water for several years now and I wouldn’t trade it
I like having a boat, fishing, crabbing, shrimping, or just looking at wildlife. I love looking for cool things that wash up on the shore. Driftwood fascinates me. Sunsets are priceless.
I enjoy the wierd weather.
I don’t enjoy cleaning up after a big storm. This past year was helatious.
I can see a day that I’ll get too old for the work involved. My hope is that I’ll have a servant to handle the load.

Better if it’s a second home.
