From an article.written yesterday

BTC was never used as currency and was even removed officially as legal currency at the end of 24. Officially removed in February 25.

Bukele still wasting tax payers money on BTC is on him as his county still struggles with massive poverty.

Estimated over 40% of El Salvador doesn't even have access to clean water and proper nutrition.

Saying the experiment was anything but a massive failure is extremely generous. Even at it's peak it didnt even hit 1% usage

Remember the volcano bonds and the millions wasted on atm machines for chivo bucks and pets.

The entire population rejected it

And how did bitcoin fail in this sense?
He said it would happen and it didn't. I don't know what else to tell you. How has the country been improved by going in big on bitcoin?

The same organizational structure that currently deems that silver and gold have value could also decide one day they're no more valuable than a tomato.
My wife likes gold and other precious metals. She has a resource that I highly value. Therefore, precious metals will always have value. It's even undefeated in financial markets.

My buyer says Fibonacci says it’s about to take off to 150. That’s all I got, nobody knows

My point is that's a Bukele thing. Not a bitcoin thing.

If I told you that you'd become a billionaire if you bought one BTC, so you ran out and bought that BTC but it didn't make you a billionaire, was that a BTC failure?

I don't think anyone is arguing that moving to BTC as a currency was a success. But what was the harm? I'm sure there was some spend to foster adoption but I doubt it was big.

I guess he's also wasting tax payer money with the recent purchases of about 23K ounces of Au at an average cost of $4300.

They also hold about $4B in USD.

Wouldn't it be unusual for a government to not hold financial reserves?

What's unusual is to seek out such an extremely volatile asset for financial reserves. It's exactly the opposite of what you would want.

Well, as a reserve asset it has worked out pretty well for El Salvador so far, and it's not like they're the only country that holds BTC.
