I think we need to get through earnings season this next 1-2 weeks before the smoke clears.
Analysts are paying very close attention to company guidance. If they’re more positive than expected, We’ll see improvement in the market and vice versa.
Things like tech, including amazon, medical, and maybe transportation will do well anyway and make good long term plays

Friend,
I once shared a pragmatic view -- that my money and talents were best served in the commercial world. There I could make huge profits and one day, all those profits and talents could be given to the Church. I thought to myself, "If I use this $10,000 to invest, it will turn into $1,000,000 in a few years. The Church will profit so much greater if it just waits a few years."
I delayed and delayed in my giving. And the Church suffered as a result. We can view money as seeds for the Church. If we all delay in planting those seeds, believing that if we just put off giving a packet of seeds because we can turn that packet into a 40 pound sack of seeds, this generation goes unfed and withers.
Support your local churches! It is vital to the health of your community and our civilization.

Dearest Friend,
I cannot hope but remind you of the teachings of the One who founded the church, Jesus Christ. The parable of the talents and how the Lord delights in his servants prudent vestment of his blessings.
It is true what he said, He did not come to unite but divide. He also came to save those who would listen and trust Him. Why cannot a person provide charity as the Lord directs and not as you perceive the need? The Lord loves a cheerful giver, such as His Spirit directs them to give.
The poor will always be with you. Their needs always plainly stated, but it is not the requisite function for you solely to provide for the poor. Good works are favorable and profits self, but those who trust in the Lord and wait upon Him for direction, profiteth the most.
With strict patience,
DIAMOND D.

Friend,
The Church is an investment and must be weighed appropriately; not all are equal. Are they carrying on our Father’s good mission to spread the gospel? For that is the Church’s one true charge. 10% is not a wholly funded approach. Be wise. Psalms 3:5-6.
Sincerely,
DIAMOND D.

Friend,
I appreciate your words. My worries are rooted in few people investing their talents in the Church. How many parents now encourage their gifted children to enter the ministry? How many parents bring their children to choir practice, instead opting for obnoxious sports leagues? Church members, and I include my own family in this, seem far more concerned about building their own little kingdoms than the kingdom of God. Thus we see church buildings becoming dilapidated while church member homes are fitted with the finest finishes. We see choirs thinned to single digits. We see the closure of church-funded charities while big commercial endeavors like United Way boom. Very few people take the life of the Church seriously anymore. And even fewer invest their talents into Her.

TulaneLSU

Thank you. Although I have a feeling DiamondDog has Tulane thrown off right now, and for that reason, I was enjoying the exchange.

Friend,
Why does this argument seem to muster renderings of self righteousness? Telling others where to invest their time and money is for the Sanhedrin and Malefactors. As the writings of Paul teach us, wonder not at your neighbor but rather hold fast to the Promise of the salvation of Jesus Christ. For he shall not tarry much longer and he holds fast to those things which matter to Him. He shall not forsake those with whom He knows his Spirit strives. Our blessed Savior says your Heavenly Father knows of the sparrow’s demise and your needs before you ask, is the therefore limited to the selfish choices of your fellow parishioners? For if all power, glory and honor are his, would the outcome of his Church be dependent upon Josephine’s diligence in her pledge of $5?
Rather, it should be a call to obedience that should overwhelm your writings. For that which is in the Lord’s hands you should not worry, as though he would forget them in need and cast asunder.
Pray earnestly for the blessings of those within our country. That their investments multiply beyond measure. That they heed obedience to the One from whom all good things come. Worry not for the future of a Church but pray in all things that Christ’s will be done.
With patience and thanksgiving,
DIAMOND D.

Friend,
I accept your words with great gratitude, for they come from a place of wisdom and faith. We are likely less apart than it might seem. Perhaps I am speaking to myself, as I once delayed giving abundantly for hope that I would be able to give even more abundantly one day. At some point, I heard a masterful sermon on the widow's mite, and my thoughts began to shift. Thank you again for your thoughts, which mean more to me than you can know.
Yours,
TulaneLSU
P.S. I have started a chapter on my favorite 10 signs St. Charles lakeside that I have promised my OT readers I would finish. I hope to return to this conversation later in the day.

It’s best to be in cash right now.
What about the deflation of the dollar with all the stimulus money being printed and handed out. Your cash will be worth less in a few months than what it’s worth now. Have you taken that into account?

Friend in Christ,
I appreciate the honesty and willingness to cede to an argument after having recognized your own folly. People today say the growth of man is only recognized in what he can achieve but we both know a man’s growth is marked by his learning to fail with grace and humility. I applaud this act of bravery.
It is a shame you left to discuss superficial billboards and road signs for the quarantined. But I suppose I understand that the simple pleasures of yesterweek are now fondly reminisced. I remember your details of a Mardi Gras gathering you detailed in Kenner. Hopefully you did not contribute to the spread of such a disease during such debaucherous functions. Always keep a safe distance and remember, no strangers hand is a clean hand. As I’m sure, your mother would say.
Glad tidings.

Friend,
I think you misunderstood my tidings of gratitude for a retreat from my position. It is not. Let us examine the widow, please.
Does Jesus name her above all others as the paradigm for Christian use of money because she invested it a farm or another's pita cart? No. Jesus lauds her because she "put in everything-all she had to live on." Jesus did not speculate that she could have speculated or invested that money elsewhere and later given to temple treasury 10,000 times that amount. No! Jesus came for the now, the eternal now, and each moment in the Christian life is one of living in the present.
The teachings of Christ are to be enacted today, and not delayed. Jesus did not tell the fisherman, "Go, invest your money. Turn that money into big money. Then follow me." No, Jesus said, Deute, the present imperative, for you Koine scholars, "Follow me." The first disciples knew that this command was not for the future. It was for now. And "at once they left their nets and followed him." At once.
Do not delay in investing your talents in the Church. To be a disciple is, to invest at once your every gift into Christ's Church.
Faith, Hope, and Love,
TulaneLSU

quote:
Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents.
Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.”

Mi Amigo,
I greet you in the southern romantic language of our hemisphere because it is foreign knowledge which you have prescribed.
It is true, charity is a call of duty to all those who seek Christ but it is not the primary duty or one for which we measure our standing. I encourage you to examine the call of Christ, follow me. Seek me. Trust me. Believe. Charity profits much but even the wicked perform charity.
It was the condition of the heart of the widow, for which Christ anointed her in the gospels. Not the mere penance of Charity. It is true what He said, even the wise have become fools before Me. I trust that you seek his direction and less you fall into the error of Law. Grace, which we so profoundly celebrated yesterday, in our Lord’s resurrection fulfilled the requirements of law and duty.
I wish you well on your search for truth and ask that you continue to seek Him first.
And let these invest in good conscious without your consternation.
Wish You Well,
DIAMOND D.
