With the stock market tumbling I thought gold would be up. It was up pretty big earlier this week, but has since fallen off. Any insight?

How can I buy some of 'dem stonks??

EDIT to add:

Gold is a "fear asset" according to Warren Buffet.

People buy gold when they are scared.

Gold going down today (by $20/oz as I write this) tells me some of the CVID-19 fear is starting to wane.

Larger funds selling some off to take leveraged downside positions to try to hedge against what is going on. Market today proves that fear is not waning.

These statements contradict each other but I guess both could still be true.

Retail is always behind institutional. Ask yourself why gold was rising as we were hitting ATH in the market. Institutional started the selloff, and they are averaging down as retail starts to panic

Gold is still a safe haven for investors but not like it use to be imo. Too many other ways to hedge/invest to take advantage of a down trend these days.

I unplugged mine and that seemed to have worked.

Everyone is selling everything. The only safehavens are cash, antibacterial soap, and surgical masks.

People are selling it to cover margin calls.

Agree with margin calls. People not selling what they want. They are selling what they can.

The metals are getting crushed this week. But They will moon when we start getting accomodative policy guidance from the Fed.

Anybody want to argue the institutional investors aren't dumping money into SPY? We had a $6 jump in an hour
