When the dust settles and iPhones are $3000, half the people are unemployed, and our 401k has $38, we can finally go all in on $.20 voo

I'll be able to unload for a huge profit the 10,000 gallons of gasoline I hoarded before Y2K. I'm ready!

I am sure you are being sarcastic (I hope) but iPhones will never be $3000.00 in today’s money because they can’t sell them for that. Then we would all just keep our 1-2 year old iPhones.

The horror!!

Just sold the shares. Not for the faint of heart and I'll probably quit doing this soon. Too volatile.

Nice while it lasted.

It’s sarcasm but not really. The cost of production likely increases by greater than 3x but as you said, that would mean companies won’t be able to sell as much and therefore profit margins go down because they price it lower than 3x but higher than 1x or even 2x. Negative impact to earnings and red portfolios for everyone

You think the cost of production is going to triple? Honestly?

Parts shipping is expensive
Labor is expensive
Power is expensive
Factory construction is expensive

So yes I think it will go up 3x

VIX: A Bullish Indicator??

Interestingly, while traders often use the VIX as a short-term broader market fear gauge, the index's extreme levels historically have been a bullish long-term indicator for stocks.

After three-day VIX spikes since 2014 ranging from 63% to 176%, Bilello has found the average one-year return for the S&P 500 (^GSPC) has totaled about 4.4%. Five years after the VIX spike, the S&P 500 has averaged a 10.2% return.

Buckle up!!

That’s the thing, you can’t know until it’s passed.

Lots of rumors about a potential implosion in the basis trade over the next few days. 3Y SOFR swap spread hit a record low today. If the repo market siezes up and the fed doesn't come to the rescue asap, we have a serious crisis on our hands. Algo trading turns these events into an absolute tailspin.

My tiny bit of hope is that Bessent understands all of this extremely well and is providing good advice to DJT.

I think soon but not necessarily price wise. The velocity and violence of this downturn will be put in check fairly soon one way or the other IMO.

The vitals in the after hours have been concerning. I hope the fed is on call.

Seems like a great entry point for Elon to introduce the X phone. Works on the Starlink network. Total encryption and privacy. Made in America. Going to be a great time for innovation out of chaos. Hold onto your nipples boys.

I’ve wondered why he hasn’t taken a swing at Apple. It feels ripe for disruption. Starlink aside, he has or has had major properties in mobile payments, AI and social media.
