Some people like to take that risk. Investing in stocks does come with a risk. I dont think there a right or wrong way in deciding wether to cut bait or keep holding on to the stock.
There absolutely is a right way.
The guy doesn’t want to sell because he’s got a loss. That’s a completely irrational reason to own a stock.

Curious, why not put in a Stop Limit order on the whole thing?

Sell it and put it in google amazon and microsoft. Not financial advice, but that's what I would do.

You are absolutely correct. It's the sunk cost fallacy. If there is a better investment then moving the money to that one is the right choice and maybe the OP can find a better investment than SMCI.
If he does find a better place for his money, he can always keep a small position in SMCI to still participate in gains if it goes back up.

Mr. "I buy undervalued companies and hold them" Warren Buffet's company owned 791 million shares of Apple (or 44% of the value of his company) in 2023. He's sold half of that since then, and is sitting on 325 BILLION in cash now.

100% good advice on this board. Add the uncertainty of SMCI clearly got caught cooking the books, and it becomes pretty clear for most what should be done. IT could take a very long time for this to shake out and all the dust to settle, until then it is dead money at best

Thanks for all the feedback, guys. I appreciate it again, never having been in this situation before. Your input was very much appreciated.
I don't have "frick you money" but the loss doesn't affect my retirement target. I did what Diseasefreeforall and others suggested. Half went to AAPL as a value stock, the other half in MSTR which I sold for a nice 12% profit earlier this morning.

Allegedly they are delivering their plan today to avoid delisting
Stock jumped 16%

It is a long ways back to $40, $60 or $80 though

Up over 20% as of now.
My after price is just over $57. If I see another dip, I'll buy a little more just to buy my average down to make it easier to jump out the stock later. I missed it when it dropped below $18 last week.

This is a good sign though. At least they are showing signs they are being a little more proactive.

Up to 30 after hours.

Elon Musk pulled major orders recently. And NVDA reallocated chips to other customers. Revenues will drop. Margins will be further constrained.
And let’s not forget the looming fraud allegations which are not simply going to go away. Buckle up

No denying issues still exist. They have made one ok decision in the past 4 months, and that was to submit a plan to avoid delisting.
This stock is years, if ever, going back to $100+.

My SMCI is down 46%. It's a large amount of money. I bought on July 28 during a pullback. And then the wheels began falling off, one at a time and the hits keep coming. I thought about taking a loss several times, then decided against it, hoping they'd fire the CFO or do something to re-establish investor confidence. And of course now I am kicking myself.
There are several class-action suits against SMCI now. They are at great risk of being unlisted. In fact, I am surprised it hasn't happened yet.
I don't know what to do. I've never been in this situation, but here I am. Should I join the class-action suits as a plaintiff?
What did you decide to do?

The problem here is you don't even know what they do lol.
They make servers, commodity arse, shitty servers. They didn't help xAI build anything.
You seem still pretty melty over Trump winning. It is going to be OK, although you should seek some anger therapy based off your posts here. I think the only board you are calm on is the gaming board.
