What does the Feds can print all the money they want, really mean?

Basically, they can write checks for however much they want , right? They don’t literally print a bunch of money right, because we live mostly in a cashless society.

Uninformed people say “print money” because they don’t know the correct term which is increase the money supply.

Last time I checked only about 5% of the US money supply exists as cash. They “print money” by logging into a computer and changing a number. The number is the total dollar value of the US money supply.

It means they have the ability to devalue your holdings any time and to any degree they so wish.
