You need to figure out your role first. Then I'd suggest prioritizing someone that wants to and has a history of doing anything that you don't want to do moving forward. Along with what the company needs.
It sounds like you may need multiple positions here though, and that you have the money to invest in multiple positions.
A proven CFO won't be cheap, my suggestion is get someone experienced and pay out the arse for it on the salary/ bonus side as said. Stay away from equity. But a lot of people that are proven are going to want some equity.

When we hired, I looked for someone with hands-on experience managing high-volume multi-state payroll cycles and working capital, rather than a traditional corporate CFO, because that is where the real bottleneck lies at a 65 million dollar scale.
I used Unit4 when scaling our firm to handle real-time multi-state margin tracking, which solved our billing reconciliation delays and gave our finance lead the exact visibility needed to manage cash flow.

With some of your headache being in the month-end close process, it would be good to first hire a seasoned Controller to lead your accounting department. Bringing on a CFO prior to that, their focus would be on the books rather than the future.
A good Controller may resolve a lot of the needs you have right now. You can bolt on a fractional CFO to that and probably get everything you are looking for.
If you are looking for an evaluation of your accounting department with some recommendations on how to move forward, I can help you out with that.

What do you look for in a CFO
I'm a CFO in the services space, current company is more white collar professional services, based in Houston.
Happy to hop on a call and help you think through the role. What you are looking for will vary wildly depending on what you want to accomplish and the current strengths/weakness of the current management team.
Congrats on what you've built so far!
