Tesla stock on Monday

Will be very interesting to see how Elon's tweet poll regarding whether he should sell 10% of his shares impacts Tesla stock and the broader market in general (it looks like the poll will end with "yes" winning which if Elon follows his word then he'd sell 10% of his TSLA shares at some point). Thank God I sold out of my TSLA shares in my Roth accounts on Friday, great timing! Can buy them back on the dip, would not be surprised to see TSLA retrace to $800-900 if it crashes.

It has moved downward in after hours but not by a ton. Recently whenever TSLA has tapped the 20 EMA on the 1-hour time frame, it has moved back up. Will be interesting to see how it moves on Monday as it is currently sitting slightly below that line.

You know he has something up his sleeve

sell 10% of his shares
Why?

Why?
Kinda of a lame excuse by him.
Here’s what he said:
quote:
Much is made lately of unrealized gains being a means of tax avoidance, so I propose selling 10% of my Tesla stock. Do you support this?
quote:
I will abide by the results of this poll, whichever way it goes
quote:
Note, I do not take a cash salary or bonus from anywhere. I only have stock, thus the only way for me to pay taxes personally is to sell stock.
Not sure what point he’s trying to make about taxing unrealized gains. Unless he’s just trying to show the effects it will have on stock prices. To me, he wants an excuse to be able to sell some.

That's exactly what he's trying to show and taxing unrealized gains is a terrible idea

So he’s tanking his own stock to counter an idea that’s being floated and isn’t even being voted on in the current bills? It’s also an idea that’s very unlikely to ever get traction.
Seems weird to me but he’s also a weird dude so maybe.

Yeah, ultimately the Dems are in the pockets of Wall Street too. They won't do shite.

He's going to have to sell a lot of stock either way coming up. He has options for +20MM shares of stock that will expire next year. Unless he finds a giant loophole he would need to sell roughly half to pay the tax bill (it would be income for him and not cap gains).

Some people have to be shown. Elon has the chutzpah to pull a demonstration and kill the idea before it gets to a vote.

Gonna use it to acquire SLI.
If it does drop, I'm snapping it up.

Since we’re talking about Tesla it’ll probably rally 10%

Where do you see TSLA trading right now?

Wouldn’t be the first time he’s tanked his own stock.

Chances are it does dip sharply but then rises right back up ever stronger as it always does.

I’ve kinda been waiting for a dip on it so I welcomed the tweet

TSLA is already roughly 25% of my retirement and I ain't scared to make it more. Bring on the dip!

Exactly!
They close a 4-$5billion deal with Hertz and stock rises about $100billion in market cap.
Nothing with Tesla ever makes sense.

So how low does it go? When does Musk have to cash in those stock options? If I were him, I'd tank the stock short term and sell some of my more recent shares at a loss then cash in just enough to cover much smaller tax burden and tell California, "frick me? No bitches! frick YOU!!!" In those words and maybe a meme.

I didn't think it would go below 1,000, but it did briefly after the open. Probably going back up from here. I said the other day that it wouldn't go below 1100... but Elon must've actually sold off some of his stock.
