I am not too sure about that. With the Biden administration tightening up exploration leases, a lot of the exploration costs were nonexistent at some companies. They were drilling on wells with known oil reserves and not looking for new areas to drill.
Now with the potential for more leases going out, that could increase expenses on finding new sources of oil by drilling new exploration wells. If you think about most OCS wells drilled in the 2000’s were exploration wells looking for oil to drill. If memory serves me well during the BP oil spill, BP was going drill the well, test the oil coming out to see how much oil was there and seal it up until another rig or ship would come to get the oil out.
Hopefully, with a new administration prospecting returns on the OCS, and a new boom occurs. That might be the only thing that saves SELA. But the other issue with population is that most oil and gas workers are transients, they can live anywhere come to work for a run and enjoy a few days off and come back to the grind. Now where you need locals is in all the support roles that may not pay as much unless we start having a huge boom and a labor shortage.

But none of that happens without batteries. That was always the thing holding back a lot of tech advancement, from cell phones to moon rovers to cordless weed wackers. Musk has been killing it with battery development.
I bought last week, even after the huge election bump. I know where this stock was before, and it's very similar to what we're seeing with Netflix, which crashed from 700 to 200 during the Cuties scandal and is currently topping 800.

I was being cheeky, Tesla is a battery company, that was/is they key cog to make everything else possible. Those batteries will be our only propulsion/life support system on non-earth objects in the beginning.

Just damn near impossible to tell when a stock makes new highs or lows in very volatile trading when a top may be in.
One thing to look for is, if Tesla makes a new high and then closes down on the day a temporary top may be in. Back in the last century we called that a key reversal. Good luck!

Are you under the impression that people buy Teslas to save money on gas? Also, cheaper O&G means cheaper electricity. Everyone benefits.

Made another 10 percent today shorting TSLA.
A lot of window dressing, short covering, and dumb money chasing these stocks.
Probably should have held the short position, but 10 percent a day isn't all bad, especially when the market is dropping.
Also shorted NVDA today when it hit all time high for a quick 4 percent gain.
You can make money in both directions, I don't know why people freak out about shorting.
Any other stocks worth shorting ?
Any recommendations would be appreciated as there have to be a lot over overpriced stocks out there that I am missing.

Definitely some opportunities for quick profits but it’s not as easy as you make it sound, on a consistent basis.

Yeah, shorting isn't easy, you have to stay disciplined.
I usually average into a short position on high flyers when they hit all time high where the risk/reward is advantage short.
I don't know why people get so angry when you discuss shorting.
Every investment decision is made based on if you think a stock is going up vs going down.
Not for the faint of heart, but neither is going long.

This is really going to piss you off.
Today I made 10% shorting TSLA & 5% going long TSLA.
And 4% shorting NVDA.
I don't get emotional about a stock.
I don't care if I make money going long or going short, as long as I make money.
I've never understood people who get jealous when others are doing well.
If someone I know is making a killing I am happy for them & want to learn from them, I'm all ears.
I don't get all butt hurt that they are doing well and accuse them of lying.
