He states he was lucky for the most part because he got in at the bottom and rode the market up until the flash crash, which implies he was in big board plays since pennies aren't really effected by the broader markets (unless they're penny stocks on the big boards).
Makes me think he was trading options.

At 3% per trade on average, how many would it take to turn 20k into 650k? Financial calculator handy anyone?
Posted on 9/25/10 at 11:51 am to RedStickBR
If you're using all 365 days (which you won't be) somewhere right under 3 years.
It will take a long time to do it with AXTI.

This is too much of a coincidence: you and Rivers reappear after a long absence from this board.

I have a theory that the Rivers' posts aren't really by Rivers. Something about them is not passing the sniff test.

Trump and Fonda's ex did the same thing. they got into gold at $20;
turned 10 million into a few billion.
Read the black swan and it will help you not be so jealous when you read a story like that.

Stop bringing that book up every time you post, you're going to make people think its a shitty book.

1919
...but your point is still valid.

Ok. A website I found to base my point on said an ounce of gold last traded at $20 in the 1890's. Oh, well. Who can we believe?
Either way, as you said, I'm pretty sure neither Ted Turner nor Donald Trump bought gold at $20/oz and "made billions" doing it.
