Have any of you ever sold your vehicle online? If so, which company did you use? Would you do it again or just trade it in?

Thanks

Last vehicle I sold I sold at Car Max. It was quick and easy and they gave me a good price (probably better than I would have gotten as a trade in). I will probably go that route again next time I sell.

Carvana and Carmax are my go to. Great experiences with both. Better with carvana as everything was done online

Sold one to Vroom this past summer. It was pretty painless and they offered me way more than any dealer was offering for it as a trade.

Sold my truck to a dealership last year. If you log on to kbb.com, there’s an ‘Instant Cash Offer’ that goes out to multiple dealerships. First place offered $24, 2nd offered $21 and third matched the $24. Signed the title and collected my check. Carvana, Carmax and Vroom won’t hassle you with a bunch of phone calls- that’s the only drawback to KBB- they will blow your phone up.

Ive sold to givemethevin, yes the radio guy. Was in and out of the office within 10min with a check in hand. They drove to my dads house and picked his truck up there and gave him a check on the spot. Its actually pretty nice not having to haggle with dealerships

If you are buying another vehicle, you can save a good bit on sales tax by trading in as opposed to selling separately. This assumes that the dealer gives you a competitive price.

All you need to do is a day or two before going to buy your new vehicle, bring your current one to Carmax for an appraisal.

I got a direct deposit today from carvana for $10,100 on a "fair condition" town and country.

After speaking with several people, carvana "overpays" for specific vehicles. Just having the inventory drives online traffic. Minivans and toyotas are included in that category.
Carmax offered about $7400 for the same vehicle.

We ended up buying a 2016 toyota sequoia from carmax. It was about $5k lower than most other internet sellers.

Good luck to those out there in the market to buy and sell.

I've never traded in, how does that work? They subtract your trade in value off of the price that gets hit with the TTL? So if you trade in for 13k that's 13k off the sale price that doesn't get TTL fees?

Correct. If you trade in a car worth $15,000 for a $20,000 car, you only pay sales tax on $5,000. It's nice, but I would get a quote from Carmax, Carvana, Vroom, etc, to use as a baseline for the dealer's trade in offer.

Texas does that BS as well. Oklahoma does not. It's a play by the dealerships to get you to trade for "tax savings" instead of selling on your own. I'd rather pay a lower rate (3.25 vs 6.25) on the sale price than be hit with a larger percentage on a lower amount but be forced to trade in.
