Give Todd a call. He likely participated in the meetings.

Sasol is getting out of the phenolics business and closing or selling the Winnie and Houston facilities.
Announced Tuesday from what i understood.
Still awaiting news on the WLK front.

My boss says given the cash position we maintain we evaluate M&A deals constantly.

I’d like to pick his brain for any profound insights he may have about synergies.

We’re in IT. So integrating systems always a cluster on transactions

Rough time to take a flyer on a company when the whole market is going wild!

I spoke with Jeff this morning. He said things are spiraling out of control.

I had heard Lyondell was trying to sell the Westlake that Sasol built and sold them…
Editing because even I can’t read whatever the frick this says…
I had heard that lyondell was trying to sell the new ethylene site in Westlake, LA they had bought from Sasol. Maybe Westlake Chemical is interested in that?

Do you think that the meetings were called off because all of the managers were watching their portfolios?

Prolly got spooked by Money Talk chatter.
Posted on 4/4/25 at 4:30 pm to lsuconnman
Certainly reasonable to believe that.

Got some feedback from 3 different people that were NOT in the meeting but heard from others that were.
Basically a rah rah morale booster “Sasol is not for sell” type meeting. Felt like a trying to stop the bleeding attempt(lost a lot of people the last 6 months).
Do with the above rumors as you wish.
I don’t know what to believe on this one but as an earlier poster said the option volume is nothing and combined with the bad timing of the market makes this a wait and see for me.

Corporate speak is entertaining. But, I get hooked as soon as it turns into preservationist double talk.

Let's review what happened a few years ago when Westlake Chemical acquired Axiall its rival in the chemical industry.
They had merger meetings. Axiall said that they were "not for sale" and one or two offers were rejected.
Upon my recollection, Westlake CEO Albert Chao stated that the Axiall BOD should be replaced because that the unwillingness to discuss the merger resulted in uncertainty and significant risk to their shareholders. Chao said that Westlake can make a cheaper and better joint of plastic pipe.
He or or one of his family members was quoted "we buy brick by brick."
Our crystal ball should be becoming clear on this matter.

Maybe there was some confusion and it was just bankruptcy liquidators kicking the tires?

Stock is now up higher than it was April 1st. Reinstating dividend.
Now would be a good time to drop some buyout news. Blow the roof off this baby!
